This was our fourth time over ten years staying at the Blue Sky Lodge and it was the most pleasant! The Blue Sky :Lodge is not a luxury destination, but after a four night stay you feel relaxed and ready to face the world. The &quot;sundeck&quot; rooms (actually duplexes) with balcony are the most pleasant accommodations. A morning cup of coffee on the deck overlooking the surrounding mountains is a great way to start the day! The unit was recently renovated with new window screens and updated furnishings in the kitchen. With a kitchen well stocked with pots &amp; pans &amp; cutlery and a reopened grocery store a short walk away, there was no need to go out to one of the village's restaurants for dinner (and an Earthbound Farm Stand is just down the road). The swimming pool and its surrounding lawn was as lovely as ever. The dogs loved to go for evening walks up into the hills. In short, we look forward to our fifth stay. Too bad that we live 1500 miles away!
What a great place. I stay at The Blue Sky Lodge over the July 4th weekend in one of their 2 bedroom suites. I can’t give this place a good enough review. The cabin I had was very clean, comfortable, and close to everything. It was very short walk to the pool area, and main check in. When I got home after a great weekend at The Blue Sky Lodge, My girlfriend had noticed that she left some clothing at the cabin, and when I called to ask if they had found anything in the room, a very nice lady told me they had and that they would be sending them out at no cost to me. In a world where nothing is free, and they already had my money from my stay, sending me our lost and found items at no cost, was a very nice gesture and speaks volumes to what kind of people the owners really are. I loved our stay and plan on coming back.
My husband and I look forward to our trips to Blue Sky Lodge (we go twice a year) as much as our dogs, Moe and Astro, do. We rent the one-bedroom apartment which is really roomy and has a full kitchen and fireplace. The place is very peaceful and quiet, quite the home away from home. It is down the road from Garland Ranch Regional Park which has gorgeous, off-leash trails, a waterfall, and a pond that the dogs really enjoy. Blue Sky Lodge is not a fancy resort with 300 count sheets and fancy toiletries. And it is not your cookie cutter hotel room either. It is a family-run business that provides an excellent value and service. Very comfortable rooms, great housekeeping service, daily newspaper and firewood, and most importantly to us, they are extremely dog-friendly!!! I heartily recommend Blue Sky Lodge!
The aim of the stay was to have a central point for exploring the area, and going to the MotoGP at Laguna Seca. It couldn't have been better. Just off the main road, quiet with a great little village 2 minutes away( Carmel Valley) All the staff/owners were most welcoming, and the accommodation was very comfortable, clean and warm. The pool was a welcome spot for relaxing after a hard day's exploring, and the local wildlife was entertaining ( deer, turkeys, vultures etc). The free WIFI was a bonus, and useful when checking the opening times of local attractions and booking tickets. The only (minor) adverse comment I would make would be about the kitchen, which was not overly well equipped, but then, on holiday, you are not going to be slaving in there a lot.
I slept comfortably on clean sheets and saved a lot of money in the process. The carpet was stain and stick free, the bathroom was clean, the closet had ample room with a door, and the TV was digital with the basic cable package. I prefer to spend less money than more per night when a least expensive room is equipped with the basics. We had two comfortable queen beds, a private patio, endless coffee to brew, and beautiful trees to give us privacy and the feeling that we were away. My bottom line is this: When I am in Carmel, most of my time is spent outdoors, so the interior of a room does not have to be newly remodeled with the most modern furnishings. Clean, pleasant, and comfortable does the job every time.
We have been staying here, with and without our children (now adults) for 25 years. To us Blue Sky Lodge feels like our second home. We have stayed in the patio rooms, the rooms near the swimming pool, and the apartments on Via Contenta. Every time we go to Blue Sky Lodge we wish we could stay longer. We enjoy walking to the good restaurants nearby, visiting several sets of friends who live in Carmel Valley, driving to Carmel and Monterey (where we have also stayed), cooking our meals in rooms with kitchens, shopping at the markets in Carmel Valley. We are not dog owners. In fact, we are allergic to dogs, but we have never had allergic reactions when staying in Blue Sky Lodge rooms.
We had a long and harrowing journey up PCH, so once we escaped its confines, we found ourselves in Carmel Valley at this wonderful place. We were welcomed by very kind and helpful girl in the office who guided us to our room which was a pleasant respite complete with a private outdoor patio, my smoking husband appreciated. Someone else's review complained about it being so "1950's", this was another thing we loved about the place. Though nestled in luscious landscaped hillside, it's just walking distance into the lovely Village for a good meal and there's a nice selection of restaurants. If ever back this way this will be our pick!!
The Blue Sky Lodge is fantastic! Our family had a great time. The hotel and landscaping is beautiful, and from the moment we got there until the moment we left the staff and accommodations at The Blue Sky were first-rate, We had a great suite, with plenty of room for my family. The family was thrilled to have access to a beautiful pool, library, ping pong table, and more. The location was great, very close to markets, restaurants, parks, and freeways. They even brought us a morning paper! It was a charming place, a breath of fresh air, to stay in a place like this. If we ever come back to the area this is where we are staying.
My parents stayed here in the 50's/60's so it was kind of a nostalgia trip back in time, including still having my parents registration cards on "file"! We have stayed there numerous times and have never been disappointed! Of course it does not have all of the modern amenities, but the grounds, the pool setting and the management, is wonderful! Expect quietness and beautiful surroundings! Rooms are clean, but old in style and amenities. The patio rooms give you your privacy...and quietness that one finds very seldom! 2 Great restaurants in walking distance!
I love Blue Sky Lodge. I have been going there with my husband and daughter for about 18 years. It is a small, family run place. It is NOT high-end, but it is very comfortable. They may not have fancy toiletries in the bathrooms but what they DO offer is peace and quiet and serenity. The pool is beautiful-- it feels like you are sitting in someone's lovely, grassy backyard. There are patio rooms, sundeck rooms and a few apartment units located a couple of blocks away. I favor the the sundeck rooms because they are closest to the pool and that is where we spend most of our time.
