Daily News Cafe

Food was fantastic and the service was the best. I'm in a wheelchair and they went out of their way to find a suitable table. Even bought our coffees for any inconvenience. Just wonderful !!

We recently spent a week in Carlsbad. We always make sure we eat Breakfast at the Daily news Cafe located right at our hotel. We ate there one of our first days in town. It was Outstanding! Delicious food, very large portions, and the service was good. Our food was served quickly and we were all raving about it days later! We made sure we went back again before our week in Carlsbad was over. When we visited for a second time, the experience was totally opposite. The waitress took our order, which seemed to take such a long time, even though there were only a few tables occupied at that time. When we got our food the portions were all so small. It was like we were at a different restaurant! When we told the waitress we were unsatisfied with the portion of one of our meals, another meal exactly the same was delivered to us and we were charged for another full meal. The size was so small, it was almost a joke. When we asked to speak to a manager, the manager said I'll be right with you, and proceeded to chat with another customer seated outside. After 10 minutes, we decided to pay the bill and leave. The waitress gave us a small discount because the manager did not make time for us. Because of this one bad experience I am not sure I will eat here again. Although the food is tasty, if the service isn't good- it's not worth your time or money. If I had not gone back for a second visit, I would've given this place 5 stars.
