Shannon was born and raised in Fort Myers, FL. She started her medical career in ophthalmology as an ophthalmic technician. She worked for George Washington University Medical Faculty Associates in Washington D.C. for two years. Working for an academic organization inspired her to further pursue her medical career. Upon graduating from Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing, she worked at the University for three years as a Registered Nurse in the neuro critical care unit. She enjoyed working with adults, and wanted to gain more experience in pediatrics. Therefore, she transferred to Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) for one year, then St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital PICU for two years. Lina was born in Havana, Cuba and was raised in Florida for most of her life. She became a Family Nurse Practitioner from the University of South Florida, Tampa in 2016. She also graduated that year as a member of the Sigma Theta Tau International Honors Society. In 2017, she became a member of the American Association of Neurology and became a Nurse Practitioner First Assist attaining her degree from the National Institue of First Assist. Dr. Gamez was born in Manila, Philippines. He was the only student who completed his Bachelor of Science degree in three years with honors. He received his medical degree from University of Santo Tomas College of Medicine and Surgery in the Philippines in 1980. He completed his medical internship and residency in Internal Medicine at the Miriam Hospital, Brown University in 1986. He completed his neurology residency at Mount Sinai medical Center, New York in 1989. He moved to Fort Myers, Florida and began clinical practice in General Neurology since then. He then completed his neurology residency and neurophysiology fellowship at Wayne State University in Detroit, MI in 1999. He practiced for less than 2 years at Portsmouth, OH before he joined practice with Dr. Prasad in 2001. Since then he has practiced neurology in Northwest Indiana where he went on to become the Stroke Director and Multiple Sclerosis Director of Methodist Hospital until June 2017.He has been recognized by the National Multiple Sclerosis Society as a partner in MS care since 2020.
