Danny Prestel, Mary Katherine, Jimmy and rest of staff...I can tell you first hand, about this vet and staff...I met Dr. Prestel in 2005, after the advice of my animal-loving friend whom I frantically called when my lab took a turn for the worst. My 3 year old choc lab had been training with me for a marathon...I always took him on very short morning runs on our property through the woods...He was in the shape of his life, beautiful, loyal! We took many water breaks, dipping into the various ponds on our property....One morning, I knew my beloved dog was in pain, shaking and whining...I took him to our local vet who diagnosed him with strep throat and gave him injections...By that afternoon, my lab was barely moving, shaking, blood in his urine, rapidly deteriorating...I knew he had been misdiagnosed...as he did not have signs of a sore throat. My friend recommended that I quickly drive him to Canton. Dr. Prestel gave him a quick, thorough exam, xray and found kidney stones, blockage to a ureter, and a bladder that was rupturing...emergency surgery was performed with so much compassion and skill! He informed me with much human concern, my precious dog may not make it...the next few days would be critical....This dear man and staff took my 95 pound lab and kept him in his office, watching over him as if he was theirs.....He had removed multiple kidney stones, stitched back a torn, inflamed bladder, rid his body of infection..but more than that, he and staff loved my dog as their own....probably the factor that made the most difference in my dog's life...and ours! My precious "JINGO" lived a very full, joyful life with us, and when he began to suffer at the end of his life, the ONLY person I would allow to ease him out of this life was the one who saved him all those years ago! I cannot say enough good things about this vet, his intuition, compassion, and skill! Mary Katherine has taken many "after hours" calls from me and given me excellent advice with never a grumble! Presently, I have 2 of our dogs in their care after emergency Cotton Mouth snake bites,....again, dogs deteriorating...this morning, after treatment, I got the report that they are improving....If something ever happened to any of my animals while in the care of Canton Animal Hospital, I would know that it was not from neglect, lack of compassion, or skill....I have known these people for quite some time and will continue to use them for our needs...CANTON ANIMAL HOSPITAL, You ROCK!!!!!!!
