Overall
This restaurant has potential ...

This restaurant has potential but the waitress ruins any chances of us returning. She is rude and grumpy. She is also very slow and lazy. I cannot believe how unfriendly she is and expects a tip. My husband and I stopped in for the first time on a Thursday night. We were not greeted, but treated as if we were a bother to her. The place was loud and very uncomfortable. Our sodas took forever to come, arriving only a couple of minutes before our food. I must say the garlic bread was awesome, and the food was decent, but not worth the price. My husband and I each ordered a dinner and a soda. With the measly tip we left for poor service, our bill was $70! That is absolutely outrageous for a chicken and a veal dinner. Save your money and your hearing and go somewhere else!

Wonderful!

Buon Appetito in Canton is the first of a family of restaurants run by a Vietnamese American who began at the bottom of the culinary employment line at Hot Tomato's in Hartford around the late 1970s early 1980s. That Kitchen and his present one use fresh pasta of various types and "stir fry" sauce mixtures and fresh ingredients into contemporary Italian food. The garlic is abundant and you can tell when you walk in the door.

The place is loud and it is very busy. It is BYOB which can save you a lot if you like expensive wine.

The garlic bread is served hot from the oven with melted cheese and chunks of garlic. It is justification enough to eat there. Then, there is the linguine with clam sauce - red or white, the Giobatto which has chicken and sausage, the Frav Diablo, the mixed seafood over pasta, the Saltimboca, etc.

Contrary to the earlier review, we have never had a bad experience. I go at 9 PM, when you and your party can linger. The restaurant is not big compared to the demand and they do turn over tables. It is always full on weekends and there is really not any where you can wait inside the restaurant. Weekends, I would not expect to be seated without a reservation. People who are late cause delays and people who come later, on time, have to wait which would not make me happy. So, I sympathize with the restaurant's dilemma. The earlier reviewer was late. The sat his party and offered them dessert to go. It angered them, but they were going to upset someone and I would say picking the ones who were late was the right choice.

Overall
Very Unhappy

We have frequented this restaurant during the past few years with no complaints whatsoever. The four of us arrived at 6:08p for our 6:00p reservation. We were floored when we received the following treatment: Our initial greeting from our waitress was, "What do you want to drink?"...not a hi or here are the specials. She brought our drinks saying, "So what is your order?"....mentioning that she has an awful toothache so if she appears a little cranky (are you kidding me!!) this is why. Right from the start that set an unpleasant tone! However, the best part was when we tried to order dessert- we were told that we could get it 'to go' . 'TO GO'! you are joking, right? No, our waitress says, the table is reserved at 7:30p. She would not let us order dessert! So basically, we were KICKED OUT of the restaurant! We felt insulted and mistreated not to even mention the rude outrageous behavior demonstrated by our waitress who obviously did not want to be at work! Needless to say we will never patronize this establishment again. go' . 'TO GO'! you are joking, right? No, our waitress says, the table is reserved at 7:30p. She would not let us order dessert!
