Choptank Elementary School is located in Cambridge, Md., and is a part of Dorchester County Public Schools. It serves more than 300 students in prekindergarten through grade five. The school has a school improvement team, parent advisory council and parent-teacher organization. Choptank Elementary School s staff is comprised of guidance counselors, professional development coaches, reading facilitators, special education teachers, speech and language pathologists and media specialists. It offers a phonics program that includes one-hour lessons on phonics concepts. The school supports Girl Scouts and band and chorus clubs. In addition, Choptank Elementary School operates a young gentlemen s club that includes teamwork activities, role plays, guest speakers and field trips. Its academic curriculum includes classes in reading, writing, mathematics, science and social studies. The school also offers programs in art, music, and health and physical education.
