When I pulled up, the manager Naeem greeted me and was very attentive as I explained to him what was wrong (my exhaust was making a loud noise). I also was having issues with my brakes and as I began to explain he basically finished my sentence as to what my car was doing. So I felt good about bringing it to him because of his expertise. After I dropped it off he sent me a video at work of what was wrong (never had anyone do that), it was so helpful! They did my breaks, fixed my exhaust, and inspection. He worked with me price-wise and for that I am grateful. These guys are great.
I'm always afraid to get taken advantage of at a mechanic, so I really appreciated the customer service I got here. They wanted to do more to my car than I'd come in for, but he brought me to the car and patiently taught me about exactly what was going on, lifted up the car so he could walk under it with a flashlight and show me, answered all my questions, and gave me time to look things up myself before making a decision. I was really grateful for his help and his time, and I know more about cars than I did when I walked in!
Overall a good experience. I had some extra work done with them and the prices seem to have been reasonable. The AC recharge which I did request was a bit pricey though at $110. The work that they suggested I do (change front brake pads and rotors as well as change transmission fluid) seems to have been priced more reasonably. $270 for front brakes and $75 to change the transmission fluid. Everything was done reasonably quick. Although they did almost forget to change my oil. They drove my car out said I was all set and when I asked about my oil the guy checked to see if it had been done, but it had not so they completed that pretty quickly for me.
I came here a few weeks ago after my steering wheel locked up on me and I had to get it towed. The nearest subaru dealership told me they couldn't look at my car for 3 weeks but will get to it when we can so the tow truck guy recommend this place and they took me right away. My camshaft pulley was broken and they replaced the timing belt as well. I knew I had to get it fixed eventually but I had them take care of it.I like that they showed me what was wrong with my vehicle before they worked on it and yes there was a bit of upselling and pricing was reasonable and I got my car back the same day so I would come here again if I am in pinch. But the mechanics and the owner were very nice and easy to talk to. They do a thorough job here so no complaints from me and open late on the weekends too.
My battery was completely dead and I called them for a tow to Cambridge Honda. Their tow price was very reasonable.Their shop is practically next door to the dealership and they quoted a new battery price that was considerably less. I had the work done there. Fast, efficient, friendly and fairly priced.
Eli's Fresh Pond Mobil did a superior, speedy "pit stop quality" job fixing my car. I really don't think that his business would have expanded to the extent that is had by "ripping people off." The harsh reality is that I brought my used 1997 Honda in with 104,000 miles on it and with a very loud rusted out muffler system that needed immediate repair. And, I am not surprised that with the vast number of miles on the car, that my car had other repair issues with the number of miles on my car. Eli and his crew found "a host of other problems" that needed repairs and I gave him the "green light" to go forward.
I pulled into Abe's with a broken transmission that felt like it was going to either explode or fall out of the car. I could tell that something was severely wrong with it - I couldn't get past 3rd gear and it was starting to buck. I had plans for the weekend so I asked Eli if I could leave it at Abe's to be checked out and if they would keep it over the weekend regardless of whether or not I decided to have them do the work or have it towed somewhere else. He said that was absolutely no problem and he would call me. Overall I was very pleased dealing with something that sucks to have to pay for. Fair pricing, great communication, great flexibility, great work and an overall positive experience.
I thought this was a fair price given that they diagnosed the problem correctly and repaired it quickly. In addition, most people don't realize that an additional job of the radiator is to cool the automatic transmission fluid(there are 4 lines total running in and out of the radiator, 2 for the engine and 2 for the transmission). So the repair can take some effort and would require that you lift the car to get underneath it. Not having the equipment to lift the car and not having to deal with coolant and transmission fluids was worth the the additional $145 that I paid to FPM.
People need to be smart consumers. If you go to any place with a big question mark on your face, you're going to end up paying more. If you're an educated consumer and can communicate with the proprietor, you will do okay.
It's rare that I write reviews, but my experience has been completely different than some of the negative ones described here. I'm not exactly informed when it comes to cars (and in truth, I don't care much beyond having a functional car and not paying more than I should). Said differently, I'd be a pretty easy target if a mechanic wanted to take advantage. Fortunately, my father (a mechanical engineer who knows cars well) reviews everything for me.
They managed to save me time and money -- recommended waiting on something I was told needed replacing, gave me a detailed estimate (and came in exactly as promised), dealt with my insurance company, and worked around my crazy travel schedule. Did they recommend other work? Yes. Work that clearly (even to me) needed doing. My car-lovin' father was again impressed with prices and said everything they recommended was exactly right. Now, I'm no authority; but my Dad? He knows.Thanks to these guys, my 13-yr-old Audi runs almost like new.
Fresh Pond Mobil did a good job. I know, I know. She has gotta to be kidding!!!!!
I had a fuel pump replaced about three or for weeks ago. Yesterday the car would not turn over. I called Eli at Fresh Pond and he said he will take care of it. My car was just delivered to me via flet bed tow. So ...I think that was good business and he wants to keep a good customer.
I've taken my car to Fresh Pond Mobil for more than five years--chiefly for inspections, rarely for any other kinds of repairs. I've found the work reliable, fast, and not expensive. I really don't understand the negative reviews posted here. Necessary, reliable automobile repairs are simply not cheap unless your mechanic is a relative! Eli and his workers do good work that I rely on to keep my car safely running.
I've been going to Fresh Pond Mobil for over 10 years from when I was driving an old VW Rabbit to the New Nissan Maxima that I drive now. I've come to know Eli (the owner) and the mechanics as being fast, reliable and reasonably priced. One huge advantage is that you can just bring your car in and they will bend over backwards to get you back on the road as quickly as possible. In short, I don't take my car anywhere else and recommend them highly to anyone in need of car repair or maintenance.
I actually just had a great experience with Elie and Joseph. The transmission on my Saturn completely went, literally, with a bang, and all my fluid leaked out of the huge crack in the case. It was Sunday afternoon, and AAA gave me a free tow to a place near my house that was actually open
I don't believe these reviews. Eli is fantastic, caring, knowledgable and good. They solved 2 transmission fluid leaks, literally saving my transmission, they fixed so many things on my 8 year old Jeep Grand that I can only tell you that Eli is a honest, hard-working man, and they did every repair fast and fair, and not a rip-off.
