The Housing and Redevelopment Authority of the County of Butler provides housing options to low- and moderate-income families that include senior citizens and individuals with disabilities. Its Family Self-Sufficiency program assists families to achieve short- and long-term goals for economic success and family self-sufficiency. The program includes several referral services, such as planning resume preparation, self-esteem building, job search, support groups, and individual and family counseling. It also operates emergency repair and home grant programs. The authority manages a transitional housing facility, Deshon Place, which serves homeless adults between the ages of 18 and 62. It also runs a homeownership program that assists low- and moderate-income families to achieve homeownership in Butler County in Pennsylvania. The program provides credit- and budget-related counseling services, as well as conducts educational classes for homeowners. The Housing and Redevelopment Authority of the County of Butler operates the Section 8 Rental Assistance Program for low-income individuals and families who wish to live in privately owned housing.
