Shear Envy

DON'T GO. Its worth spending the extra $10 elsewhere in order to save yourself a burning vag. Yes the Brazilian wax was fast and cheap, but it was also rough and dirty. The waxer did not apply powder prior to the wax, which, in combination with her lack of TLC, left my skin red and broken open in many places. It has been four days since that fateful day and I am still in serious pain! Don't put yourself through this! Beauty is pain...not torture.

Absolutely BEST brazilian experience I have had! They use a high quality wax (nufree http://www.nufree.com/) that sticks to the hair and not to your skin and trust me, you can FEEL the difference. Don't get me wrong, certain areas of a brazilian are going to hurt no matter how good the salon but this was hands down the least painful wax I've ever had.



Evidently the other reviewer doesn't understand that a brazilian should not take more than 30 minutes or you have someone inexperienced. I didn't feel rushed in the least and the owner was more than friendly and quick about it. She didn't miss a single spot and I was out of there in 20 minutes total. She even left me with a conditioning packet. There was no wax left on me when I left either (double score!!). Maybe that other girl was allergic to the wax? It's a soy and plant based wax, so make sure you check before you go in, especially if you have sensitive skin.



As far as the cleanliness, this salon was warm and inviting. You do have to go upstairs, it's above a bank but the door is clearly labeled. From Church St. you turn right onto college street and it's on the right. The waiting room had refreshments (coffee, water, soda) and the waxing room was clean. Maybe the other person thought the drips of wax on the floor was unsanitary but I found it perfectly understandable (wax is hard to clean off!) and acceptable. They also give you a robe which was a really nice touch. I will definitely be getting waxed here from now on!

I went to receive a Brazilian wax at Shear Envy, and unfortunately the experience was horrible. First of all, you cannot finish a Brazilian in a half hour, this simply means that the aesthetician is not taking the time to do a good job. The owner of Shear Envy, was in a hurry, and this made the procedure even more painful than necessary. The facility is dirty and when waxing, cleanliness is essential (this is the law.) Throughout the wax, I was told that the red bumps and irritation would subside within 24-48 hours, this did not happen, on the contrary, the irritation got worse, and I was in extreme pain for at least four or five days. I understand that a brazilian wax is already painful, but this woman was violent. Seriously, spend the extra 20 bucks and 20 minutes and get yourself to a salon or spa that is willing to take the time to keep their place clean, and you comfortable!!!
