We did another large scale planting (over $25,000.00) for a major project and NJ Plants and Trees did a great job as usual. We bought over 150 green giants for this project in various sizes for this project. We also bought over 400 boxwoods, a couple hundred perennials and a few hundred knockout roses and hydrangeas.
Our order was shipped timely and correct as alway. Frank did note the 6-7 ft trees were just going to be over 6 because he can't grow them fast enough. He assured us the would grow to 7 ft this year and they did!
The boxwoods and rose bushes were nice as usual.
We are starting another development this fall and will be forwarding our entire list to them in the hopes they can fill the entire order.
This company always has the goods at the right price. Much better quality and pricing than re-wholesalers.
On May 16, 2017, my wife placed an order with NJ Plants & Trees for 19 Arborvitae Emerald Greens, size 4-5 feet, @ $45 for $913.78 with tax. The next day we sent a check, which was cashed May 22.
On May 25, we received an email saying the trees would be delivered the next week. My wife asked how much notice they give on deliveries (we are planting the trees ourselves and wanted to coordinate the removal of existing hedge, delivery of mulch/topsoil, labor, etc.), but they never replied.
The trees were not delivered the next week. I called 3 times and left messages but never heard back.
On June 7, 3+ weeks after we placed order and 1 week after they said they would deliver, the trees showed up in our driveway with no notice.
The trees ranged in size from 46-49", one at 55". Most displayed big patches of dead foliage. Overall, the trees were at the low end of the advertised height, and they were less healthy than the trees at our local Home Depot, which are $10 cheaper =we could have saved $190 and gotten bigger, healthier trees.
I left a message asking for healthier trees or a refund. I said I would be leaving online reviews, good or bad.
Less than an hour later, I got my first callback. “Frank” was hostile from the start. He said evergreens shed this time of year, it was normal, our trees were fine. I said I was glad to hear it and that we would keep the trees. I also said that I had photo'ed the trees in case there was a problem.
Frank said he has “a legal team” that monitors reviews “and they WILL file suit.” I asked Frank why he was making legal threats about a review I hadn’t even written. I assured him I would present only the facts, which I laid out, and which he didn't dispute.
At no point did Frank apologize for the late delivery (which cost us a precious weekend of project time), nor did he acknowledge not returning our calls or not giving notice of the delivery.
NJ Plants & Trees = TERRIBLE customer service. Buyer beware.
