I don't know what some of the others were talking about in there reviews but they were so wrong about this restaurant. It was some of the best food i have ever had. the price was just right for us. My server was knowledgeable in the great wine they had and was able to help us choose the right wine to go with our dinner. Was a little loud, but its a busy place with many people so we understood. We can wait to go back and bring friends!

First off, this place doesn't deserve three stars, but 2 seemed too low. 2.5 would be more appropriate. I've been here many times because my friends seem to always want to eat here. I've decided that it's time to veto their selection. I have never had a great meal here and the noise levels ruin the atmosphere. What happened to a little nice music playing in the background? I don't know why but it seems everyone has to yell when they talk here. But back to the food - I've even thrown up after eating here (may have been that the food was just too rich, as I typically eat a very strict vegan diet). I think this place is often packed because of its location, nothing more. The bar is very popular and the bread is good, but the service is anywhere from moderate to poor. Oh! And the fact that families take their children here and let them RUN AROUND in the restaurant making nuisances of themselves really annoys me. PARENTS, IT SHOULD BE A PREREQUISITE FOR DINING OUT WITH YOUR KIDS THAT THEY KNOW HOW TO BEHAVE IN PUBLIC. My dining experience should not be adversely affected by your arrogant disregard for others.

My last experience at Il Fornaio a year ago was much better and they gave us great service. This time, they didn't acknowlege our reservation through Open Table nor the fact that it was a special event for us. The waitress never smiled, got our order wrong, and barely said a word. The food was average and the presentation was poor.

I had heard a lot of great things about Il Fornaio, specifically about their homemade pasta and wine list. We made reservations for New Year's Eve and although it was busy, we got right in. We ordered an appetizer and a salad, which were fine, and my husband ordered the lasagna which was good. I ordered the lobster ravioli and it was terrible! It had way too much citrus/orange rind in the sauce and it even smelled bad. I started to eat it, however, the waiter took so long to check with us that my husband was almost done with his meal by the time we could say something about my pasta. The sauce was awful and the quality of the lobster in the raviolis was bad. Service was very slow, it's nice to be able to enjoy your dinner not in a rushed way, but this was slooooow.
They did comp us a dessert for the terrible pasta dish but they should've comped the $20 lobster ravioli! We won't be going back.

Although the room is inviting, the service here needs work. We spent 3 hours at Il Fornaio on a recent Sunday evening. The average wait time between courses was about 25 minutes. We had no special orders or requirements. With all that time to look around I also noticed that everything was a bit dingy. The copper pots hanging over our heads, though festive, were covered with dust and were turning black. Everyone survived but it was tough to appreciate the food when we spent such a long time waiting for it. Also, generic Italian is definitely the name of the game here. For the price and service I will NOT be returning anytime soon as there as so many other more interesting choices in the Italian line.

My family, is big on eatting out. So they noticed everything. They noticed we were rushed in and rushed out. We felt like we did not belong in here, like we didnt matter. It took a long time for the waiter to take our orders. Then, we waited a long long time, for our food to come. We were watching food sit on the counter, growing hungry because we were waiting for almost an hour before we got out food. Surprise, the food we were admiring from afar was ours... watching it get cold. Our food, up close, was cold, tiny and not worth what it cost. Our waiter, also forgot to bring us bread, water.. and even ask us if there was anything else he could have done. Did he ask if if we wanted anything after? No.. he just gave us the check. What was our waiter doing while we waited for him? Our waiter was chatting it up with other families, these two other tables.. Checking on them constantly, asking them if they wanted anything else... Why did he ignore us while he showered those other tables with kind customer service everyone deserves? I have a theory that it was because each member of those other tables were decked out in high designer fashion and seemingly looked like big tippers. We felt like nobodies. Next time, we'll wait a few more minutes across the street for Stacks. They treat you with dignity and respect.. no matter what you're wearing. And the food is waaaaaaaaaay better too!!

I had not been to Il Fornaio in a while and decided to meet a friend for a drink. The bartender, whom I know pulled out a wine glass that was stained with soapy water and poured my wine. I was bothered that it was not sparkling but decided not to complain. I took a sip and informed the bartender that it tasted like detergent. He put that glass to the side and grabbed a few more glasses and came back over to me to tell me that they are all like that. He proceeded to rinse a glass out, not wash it, put it back on my napkin soaking wet and then poured the old wine back into the new glass. I left the glass there and then when my friend arrived I ordered what she ordered and left that glass there. I was so annoyed I told her that we were not going to have dinner there. The bartender threw the wine after he realized that I was not going to drink it.
BY THE WAY, there is a glitch in this system because I rated this restaurant below average. One bad experience has left me bitter!!

We (5 people) had a dinner . There were three young hostesses who dont seem to be trained. The table she gave us was actually for four people, they squeezed one more chair there. There are plenty empty larger tables for 5~6 people. I asked the hostess if we could get larger table. However, she told us those are for larger group. We were like what she is talking about?? Also, I asked if we could wait for another table. Then she said that she dosent know how long it will take for next available table and she insisted to take the table and left without making any effort to check tables for us. We gave up and took the table. We always had to help waiter to put plates, glasses and so on because there was no space between next tables. Empty tables were still there until we leave.
