Small Town Steel is not the business to go with and I hope this saves others precious time and their money. When we signed with Small Town Steel in April 2017 to start construction on our 50x60 metal building on June 15th, there were not any reviews on the company. We paid our deposit and paid extra for additional things that they failed to quote in their concrete price. The subcontracted concrete company got the foundation done, but Small Town failed to have the concrete anchors/plates ready when it was time to do the concrete. My husband spoke with Ben that same morning as the concrete was on it's way and he was "working" on them that morning and of course didn't make it out until after the pour to pick up the check. The start date kept getting pushed back again and again. Ben and Crystal quit answering or responding to phone calls, emails and text messages from known phone numbers. I did reach Crystal in early August as she will answer for numbers she does not know. I requested a refund of our deposit to which her response is "she needs to speak with Ben." She refuses to refund the deposit stating it covers wages. I don't know what wages as we paid the concrete guy and paid for the additional equipment he needed without an undue expense to them as it should have been. She now claims Ben plans on doing it but is lacking manpower. That was about a month ago and still no communication from them. This company is quick to send bills and pick up checks, but not provide communication or deliver on promises. We no longer want to use this company and have been making attempts to get our refund back. Please find another reputable business to work with.
Think twice...I will update this review when my building is complete, but for now it doesn't look good. I have been waiting over two months for a simple 30x30x14 steel building--no electricity, no insulation, just a shell with three roll-up doors, a walk-in door, and a window. Ben said he "would bring a big crew and knock it out in a couple days." The contract states it will be complete by Aug 15, 2017. So there are 5 days left and all I have is a yard full of trash, an incomplete foundation, a broken patio where the concrete truck ran it over, a concrete sub-contractor (stay far away from Luke Garcia Concrete!) that is threatening to sue me and put a lien on my house because Ben and Crystal McFadden haven't paid him, and a small pile of steel beams. I call and/or text both Ben and Crystal every day without response. There is also a BBB complaint with the same story.
