So as everyone knows I turned 30 this weekend. A couple of weeks ago I booked a surprise visit for a friend to "A Relaxed You" for her birthday, and I thought I would do the same. For a birthday present to myself I booked a one hour deep tissue massage. The name of the establishment is "A Relaxed You" located at 11121 South Kedzie Avenue in Chicago. The young lady on the phone was very nice and explained to me there would be a $25 fee if I canceled, and to arrive 15 minutes early for your appointment. The appointment was scheduled for 9:00am, and I was excited to go. When I arrived for my appointment at 8:45 which is 15 minutes early the doors were locked.I returned to my car and waited awhile longer. At 8:50am the "OPEN" sign in the window finally came on, and I was ready for my relaxation to start.Instead the nice receptionist Danielle informed me that the young lady who booked my appointment forgot to write it in their book. When Danielle checked the computer she was able to see all of my information had been confirmed for the appointment, but not written down in the masseuse schedule. So even though I called and booked a $75 massage, came 15 minutes early, I would be leaving without service. Unless I was able to comeback at 12:45pm, but if not the next time I come they would only charge me $50. All of that is nice, but you all have to do better. I barely squeezed time out of my busy schedule for that hour, and to wake up on the one day I could sleep in for nothing! While I listen to the receptionist chat about how tired she was from laying up with her boyfriend at Depaul University the night before. When she could of been finding other ways to rectify the situation. That really made me very LIVID! If you are a no show they charge you a $25 fee. If they screw up you get a pat on the back with a discounted massage that they will note in your account. Forgive me if I am not excited with the customer service. If you forgot to to write down my appointment, you probably will forget to write down the discount. As you read this you may say, "What's the big deal?". Well as a working, single mother of two relaxation time is sparse. So when finally do make time for it you actually want to relax. I have been to this place in the past, but one visit like this can make you rethink the place. I work hard for my money, and my time is precious I will not be going back. If I had to rate this place it would get 2 out of 10 stars for today's experience. The only reason I gave it 2 stars was for the nice decor.

I've been a loyal customer of "The Art of Healing" since the first salon was on Division St. in Wicker Park. The salon on Ashland was always a pleasant experience. This new space is no longer a salon. It is has metamorphasized into a luxurious day spa. It's like entering a world of beauty, peace, and tranquility. Allyu (pronounced ah-you) is decorated in a modern Moroccan style using only earth- friendly organic materials throughout the entire spa. At the center of the spa is the 'meditation' area where you can relax and sip a glass of cucumber or lemon water before or after your massage. There are plenty of private rooms to handle every service they offer. There's three private shower rooms, a infrared sauna room, a separate area for manicures and pedicures, and even a double sized massage room for couples. There's lot parking and street parking for those who drive. The Riverwalk area also has the restaurants "Japonais" and "Kitch'n" for those who want to have a good meal. The entire experience from the first moment you're warmly greeted to the blissful feeling you have when you exit, is truly wonderful. I hope more people from the entire Chicagoland area discover and treasure this remarkable gem.
I found Spaforever by chance. I received an email from Pretty City and saw that they had some Feb discounts. Looked at the spa's offerings and thought Spa forever would be a good choice. I was SO right! It was easy to get to and parking is very easy. I was greeted politely and introduced to my aesthetician who led me to the room. The details as you enter upon the spa rooms was nice. It was very calming and relaxing and it smelled great. I was not sure if it was vanilla but definitely pleasing to the smell. I had the forever facial and it was great! We spoke for a few minutes on what was going on with my skin and she suggested a gentle peel and she explained everything without talking too much and let me relax. The neck, shoulder and arm massage was great. Don't change a thing!! I did not want to leave. My face felt great and I was SO relaxed. I will definitely be back. I booked a massage for my next visit and I hope it is as great as the facial.
SpaForever is my favorite budget massage place in the City of Chicago! It's a (big) step above the budget massage chains that emphasize quantity over quality, and is affordable enough that I've able to go every few months for the last 3 years! The front desk staff is always friendly, the reception area is cute and hip, and all of my masseuses have been professional and super-skilled. It doesn't have full spa amenities like showers and steam rooms, but with that location and those prices, I don't miss them one bit. I'm a big sucker for customer loyalty punch cards (one of the reasons why I only go to one place for manicures)--and I've almost racked up my first free massage. I'm also glad I signed up for the email list, because they tip me off to insanely good secret promotions like $49 one-hour massages. I recommend this place to all my friends.
I VISITED THIS SALON & DAY SPA BECAUSE I WAS IN A RUSH AND COULDN'T GET DOWNTOWN TO MY USUAL SPOT. I DON'T LIKE BEAUTY SHOPS AND UNPROFESSIONAL PEOPLE, SO I'LL TRAVEL AND PAY FOR WHAT I WANT AND DESERVE. THIS UPPER CLASS DAY SPA WAS AN EXPERIENCE LIKE NEVER BEFORE. I WAS GREETED BY A STAFF 1ST OF ALL WITH A KIMONO, OFFERED COMPLIMENTARY BEVERAGES AND THE FILLED OUT A CUSTOMER PROFILE SHEET SO THAT THEY WOULD KNOW MY ALLERGIES-LIKES-DISLIKES AND KEEP A RECORD OF MY SERVICES!!! THAT IS UNHEARD OF ON THE SOUTH SIDE OF ANYTHING. TO MY ASTONISHMENT THE SERVICE WAS IMPECCABLE! THE TOUR WAS AWESOME! AND MY HAIR TO SAY THE LEAST BETTER THAN USUAL! I'VE ALREADY PRE-BOOKED MY NEXT APPT AND WILL TRY THE MASSAGES AND PEDICURES!
I don't remember my masseuse's name, but she was AMAZING. I have never had such a deep, through massage. She knows her stuff too! She explained everything she was doing and told me why my muscles reacted and/or got sore the way they did. She was very knowledgeable and answered ALL my questions through the massage. My favorite part of the massage was when she moved my shoulder blade and massaged the muscles underneath! It was so weird, but felt great. I am officially spoiled now and definitely plan on a repeat experience to Spa Forever!
I have had 2 massages at SpaForever and cannot say enough about how great they are. I had a different masseuse for my first visit, and she was wonderful, but I had Andy(?) this last visit and my back has never been better. His techniques are a bit unconventional at times, but the results are worth it! I do deep-tissue Swedish style, so my massages are almost painful but after a day or two, the kinks are gone. They have great deals during the week - so book your massage NOW!
This spa is a hidden gem in the northside of Chicago! I first discovered this place when taking a stroll through the neighborhood and decided to try the organic facial. It was the greatest facial ever - my esthetician was very knowledgeable and her touch was perfect. She took the time to explain in detail how to best take care of my acne-prone skin. I walked out with a flawless face and have bee hooked ever since!
I absolutely LOVE getting massages from Paula. I actually followed her to Spa Forever fro another salon, she is just great!! Always professional, mixes up her technique, doesn't talk the whole time, and has 'magic hands' as I like to say;-) As far as Spa Forever goes, I think it was also great. Very zen like, pretty atmosphere. I will definitely go back, and I highly recommend Paula for a massage.
I'm absolutely in love with my eyelashes extensions! I used to get them at another salon before I discovered Biolife but they looked horrendous and clumpy. My eyelash technician at Biolife, Ewa, completely saved the day by repairing my eyelashes. I get so many compliments on my lashes now. I've been to a few place to get extensions done and I can say with confidence that Biolife is by far the best!
