I'm new to Atlanta and visited Spoon this past weekend (2/13/10) for a early Valentines dinner. I was excited to go because I loved Thai and the reviews were decent. The Decor was very nice. However the restaurant was so small it was the size of my family room & kitchen. The tables were on top of each other. A wide person would NOT be able to fit between the seats they shoved as many together as they could to create seating. I heard EVERYTHING the people beside me on my left & right were saying.... On to the food. I was very disappointed. The Calamari appetizer was so heavily breaded it was like eating fried flour. Not Squid. My Fiance ordered the seafood Pad-Thai BAD CHOICE. I love Pad Thai So I was very disappointed when his tasted like a sweet & sour Noodle. The seafood was not seasoned and the sauce was terrible. I'm not sure how a THAI restaurant could mess up Pad-Thai! I ordered the Prawns they were HUGE looked like 2 big lobsters I couldn't wait to tast. The Panang Curry sauce was excellent. However the Prawns were over cooked and rubbery. They too were not seasoned under the shell. And the Head was still on my prawns, this was no aesthetically appealling. The staff was great & attentive. IOverall, would not return. The food has to win me over Not just nice decor and a friendly waitress. I'm back on my prowl for good Thai in Atlanta.
The service, food, and feel of the plave is all authentic Thai....and i mean this in a good way.\r Its like a ""Thai massage"", but for your palate…
My mother and I went to The Mali Thai Restaurant before we went to check out the Salvador Dali exhibit at theHigh Museum. We got there at lunchtime and were seated immediately. Our appetizer of spring rolls were crispy, amazing goodness. My mom got the Soft Shell Crab dish, and had them do only one pepper of spicyness, which ended up being good, because it was very spicy, but delicious! I got the Pad Thai Seafood dish with scallops and shrimp and it was amazing! We also got the bagel roll sushi, and that was some of the most huge, tasty pieces of sushi we have ever had! The price of the meal was very reasonable, the food incredible, and the waitstaff, pleasant and helpful. We will definitely come back on our next visit to Atlanta! I highly recommend you try this out-of-the-way gem!
I absolutely loved everything I tried here! Spicy Basil Tofu– This dish was so flavorful! I usually don’t expect to like a tofu dish that much but the one at Bangkok Station proved me wrong! The vegetables were fresh and went perfectly with tofu and the white rice that was served on the side! Chicken Panang Curry– $14- This is one of the best curry dishes that I think I’ve ever tried at a restaurant. I loved it so much and when I go back to this restaurant, I’m definitely getting it again! This curry dish was made with coconut milk, bell peppers, kaffir lime leaves, green beans, and chicken. Delicious! All of the decorations in this restaurant were brought directly from Thailand! I loved the ambiance here! It would be perfect for a girl’s night out or a date night!
The Hubs and I were feening for some sushi. He mentioned Harry & Sons to me a few weeks ago, after a coworker recommended it. Although it was Saturday night and a bit crowded, we were seated immediately upon arrival. Our waitress was friendly and quickly took our order. We both decided to go for the combo offerings: The Hubs had combo #! (Super Crunch and Tokyo rolls) with brown rice and I had combo #4 (Rainbow and California rolls). I always use the Rainbow roll as my gauge on whether or not I like a sushi restaurant. Harry & Sons' rolls were solid. I tried a bit of Mr. V's rolls, and the brown rice wasn't gross and hard like the brown rice we've had at other sushi spots. But this wasn't a place I'd be dying to get back to. It was good, but not mind-blowing.
Every time I go, no matter what time, afternoon or evening, Surin is packed with people and groups of people drinking, eating and chatting. The entrees are always fresh and arrive exactly as ordered. The Curry Soft Shell Crab, and others were all prepared to our satisfaction. The ginger martini was a real winner and a nice complement to the meal that followed. I have never gotten anything less than perfect at this restaurant. Consistently high quality of fresh vegetables, meats and sauces. Awesome service and very reasonable prices. This is one of my favorite restaurants in all of Atlanta! Great food, decent pricing and consistency in each of their dishes.
I absolutely love this restaurant. Whenever our company goes out to lunch, this is where we pick. Special occasions are spent here. The decor is gorgeous with a mix of urban ceilings and pretty accent pieces. The food is absolutely amazing. The pad see u, the pad tai and the spring rolls are what I usually order. If you need a little more spice to your dish, you can always ask for a spicy tray which gives you sauces and peppers to place on top. The staff is always friendly and they refill your water before you even know you need it filled. Parking here is kind of difficult because the lot fills quickly and the underground deck is pretty hard to navigate.
We ordered take out from Bangkok Station tonight- but usually we dine in. Parking at this location is hit or miss- there is a parking deck but it is often full. My go to at Bangkok Station: spring roll appetizer and pad see ew (extra spicy). Both were excellent! The sweet sauce that comes with the spring rolls is out of this world. If you decide to dine in, sit outside! The patio area has a great vibe, especially when the weather is nice. I don't love Thai food- but I would definitely recommend Bangkok Station to anyone looking for good Thai in Buckhead!
The thing that keeps bringing me back to Pozole is the margaritas. A wide and creative selection includes Pomegranate and Raspberry but I stick with the tried and true house margarita. The guacamole is excellent, the tacos are good if a bit pricey and the atmosphere is cozy, crowded and can get a bit loud but always a fun time. The outside seating is great in the spring and fall but the summer heat can be a bit overbearing inside and out so go early before the summer crowds crank up the heat. I highly recommend Pozole for a change of pace in Virginia Highland.
My co-workers and I celebrated a birthday there today. We all love this place and have been coming for years. The service was quick and the waiter was attentive to our needs. Siam chicken is always a grand slam with our crowd, the menu shows Siam Shrimp but they will gladly substitue with chicken. The sauce is the best around and it you want it "Thai hot" they will accomodate, have a tissue handy because you will cry from the heat.
I loved this place. I want to go back everyday n my Carla M was really nice n helpful. The food was hot and good. The atmosphere was nice. i would tell family and friends about this place. it was very kid friendly. the parking was good on a Friday night also which was unbelievable. I would recommend the spring egg rolls and the Thai wings also.u can usually get a table when u get there. This was my first time vising the resturant and not my last.
