Overall
My experience with Dr. Nancy S...

My experience with Dr. Nancy Scheinost couldn't be more opposite of the less than stellar review of sunlover27. I noticed that is the only review that sunlover27 did, which makes me question that review.

I first went to Dr. Scheinost after moving to the Brenham area in December of 2008. I was diagnosed with RA in 2005. My wife was diagnosed with RA in 1996. We both go to Dr. Nancy Scheinost, and couldn't be more thrilled with the treatment that we have received not only from her, but the rest of the staff.

My wife is on Medicare and I am provided health care from the VA system, but we still drive over 150 miles each way, every 3 months, to see Dr. Scheinost and her staff. Money is NOT the main concern of this doctor, I can assure you, because I pay for her services out of pocket. She has even provided samples of expensive drugs to me while I wait for the VA to furnish them.

Dr. Scheinost has always treated my wife and I with the utmost respect and dignity, and is very thorough with her examinations. She treats the whole person, not just the disease. She usually spends up to an hour with us, discussing our aches and pains, course of treatment that we are on, and the quality of life. I just wish my wife had been a patient of Dr. Scheinosts' sooner, as she may have been able to avoid some of the damage to her hands and feet.

if you are looking for a Doctor who specializes in Autoimmune Diseases, I highly recommend making an appointment with Dr. Nancy Scheinost.

Overall
harsh, uncaring, incompetent

Not only was this doctor unable to help me, but her staff was rude and incompetent. I am new to the area and found this doctor in the phone book. I have been unable to work for several months due to chronic pain that had recently become unbearable. Since moving to the Brazos Valley, I have been cared for by a team of four wonderful local doctors and a physical therapist. My daily suffering includes moderate to severe joint pain in my hands, wrists, shoulders, hips, knees, ankles, and feet. When I decided to seek the medical treatment of a Rheumatologist, I picked Dr. Nancy Scheinost out of the phone book. I expected to be treated with common COURTESY and the RESPECT with which human beings should treat one another. I expected the staff to have just the smallest amount of COMPASSION for a patient seeking medical care. I also expected the staff to be HONEST and to do their job CORRECTLY. None of these expectations were met. The staff that I have encountered at Dr. Nancy Scheinost's office have been harsh, uncaring, and incompetent. I was given the wrong billing information ($214 over the amount I truly owed), my appointment was canceled (as punishment, I suppose) and more than once, I've been treated rudely on the phone. When the clerk decides she doesn't want to talk to you she just says, "Bye!" and hangs up. Then she will switch the phones over to the answering service so you can't call back. This is childish and immature behavior that I never expected to find at a doctor's office. When I tried to discuss my concerns about the treatment I received with the office manager, she had complete disregard for my concerns and told me I needed to find another doctor. I don't believe my expectations are outrageous. My hope for this medical office is that they will understand the impact that they have on the community. They seem to thrive on a sense of POWER because they almost have a monopoly on Rheumatology in the Brazos Valley. Not only is it extremely disappointing to find this attitude in the health care industry, it is unethical. I hope somehow, the doctor and staff in this office will realize their duty to treat their patients with dignity, compassion, respect, honesty, and most certainly realize their duty to do their job correctly. I will happily drive 100+ miles to receive adequate care in another city.
