I first went to Arimed about 3 years ago in order to get prescription orthotics. Arimed claimed that they had contacted my medical insurance carrier and determined that the orthotics were not covered by my insurance. So, I paid out of pocket for the orthotics and was charged $450. After fully paying and getting the orthotics, I learned that my insurance did cover orthotics and submitted the bill to my carrier. The carrier sent Arimed -- which is in the insurer's network -- a check for $160.48 in full payment for the orthotics. I then had to hassle with Arimed to get back my $450 payment. The orthotics are now wearing out. I called Arimed and explained that I wanted to refill the prescription and get a new set of orthotics. I made an appointment to go to Arimed. The person I spoke to said that they would have to contact my insurance carrier -- again -- but said nothing about needing a new prescription. Before the appointment, I called my insurer and confirmed that my insurance would cover the orthotics. The insurance company assigned a reference number to my conversation with them so that, when Arimed called, it would be possible to quickly locate the confirmation that insurance covered my orthotics. Today, I had my appointment with Arimed. The receptionist asked to see my prescription, even though I had made the appointment to refill the prescription that Arimed had on file. Just in case, I had brought a copy of the prescription with me. When the receptionist looked at it, she said that I would have to get a new prescription and that refilling the prescription would not be covered by my insurance. When I asked why I had not been told that on the phone, she had no answer. When I asked her to call my insurer, she refused and abruptly dismissed me. Since I still need new orthotics, I will get them from a different company and will never go back to Arimed.

Bay Ridge Orthopedics is the most unprofessional, sloppily managed doctor's office I've ever been to. In early October 2012 I had a 1pm appointment in the Bay Ridge office and didn't get in to see Baum until 6:10pm. There was a disgusting meth- freak looking woman in the waiting room who was licking open sores on her arms. Baum is clearly distracted and unable to give proper attention to patients. On November 14 I had an appointment at 4pm at the Avenue R location. I arrived at 4pm to find 21 patients ahead of me in a boiling hot waiting room with no available seats. I was told that my wait would be at least two hours. I left and will never return. Dr. Baud's practice is a disgrace. The patients are treated shoddily and the "care" is marginal at best. Find a real orthopedist if you an.
