Came here with my girls for a girls night - perfect place. Every kinf of mojito you can imagine, delicious appetizers, the staff was quick and super friendly. The music was perfect and we had a great time. I will definately - DEFINATELY - come back at least once a week now.

Cute place. You should try

This is a cute place. The service is not stellar, but it is nice. Drinks are strong, and food is decent. Cod fish cakes were on point. Turkey Burger hella juicy... I will go back. Resturant turns into a lounge of sorts at like 11pm. Nice....!

I love Tamboril. I go there on average once a week (or do take out). They have the best turkey burger! THE BEST.
I have tried other things from their menu and have not been dissappointed either. The bread pudding is also to die for.

The restaurant itself, is really well decorated, spacious (good for groups) and overall very nice, a plus for the neighborhood. Also, the restaurant is a great platform for emerging artist; every three months (or so); the owner has an art exhibit to promote local artist.

It has a great bar but all that's missing is their liquor licence. BYOB for now.

Very nice space, Great for big Parties, Bad Service

This place is beautiful. It has the potential to be great but still lacks quits a bit. I celebrated my birthday here in October and it was not what I hope it would be. I had a party of 13 and they could not keep up. At the same time they had 2 other big parties and some smaller tables and it seemed that all around the service was horrible. My party waited over 45 minutes for the staff to take our order then another hour for them to bring the food out, I won?t even mention how long it took to take the orders.. Thank god it was BYOB, we drank on empty stomachs while we waited for our meals. When the food did arrive, most of it was not hot and barely warm. Then for some of my party, the restaurant waited till they started serving the dinners to tell them that they did not have what they ordered. Also when serving the food they brought out all the meals at different times, while half of the table ate, the others just looked?.not good. The host and owner where very nice and tried to be accommodating but that could not make up for such horrible service. The food was good, the ambiance was very nice and the place was great for big parties. They just need to fix the service. The BYOB thing worked out well.

One star for effort

I don?t even understand how so many fellow citisearch reviewers could write about Tamboril?. There is NEVER anybody in there! I live a half a block away, and whenever I pass by, the owner Ed always tries to pull me in to have dinner. How can the food even be fresh when the place is empty? It is not really for the neighborhood. I went with two of my roommates a little while ago, mainly bc it is BYOB and bc we wanted to support them?. We didn?t even finish our meal and the owner didn?t seem to want to notice that. The salmon was totally overcooked and way to sweet, and the crab cake sandwich was very fishy and the ?Tamboril Seasoning? on it overpowering. The service was a little over the top since we were the only customers in there. Later that night when I went out to get cigarettes, Tamboril was still empty! I rather just stick to LUZ or Castros if I want to eat Latin?. Take my advice, and don?t waste your money.

Food never tasted this bad!!

First let me start by saying I was excited about finding a Latino restaurant that was presented as being a step above your average take out/ home cooking. Secondly, I am Latina and have a very diverse palate, eating out on average 3 times a week anywhere from restaurants with celebrity chefs to your neighborhood joint. Third, I was celebrating my 40th birthday with my family. The place is very pretty with your typical loungy look and feel. The menu had some interesting items. NEEDLESS TO SAY THE FOOD WAS AWFUL!!!
The owner must of had all of his friends write up the fictitious glowing customer reviews. Food never tasted this bad. Everything was insipid. Totally tasteless. The calabaza(pumpkin) soup looked like Gerbers version of spaghetti stage 2 for toddlers, it had little pieces of spaghetti in it and tasted like cardboard, I could not eat it and had to send it back. The appetizers were either overcooked or undercooked and everything tasted as if it was soaked in water after it was cooked. I could have done a better job. How can you get tostones wrong? They were soggy and undercooked.
Our compensation for a horrible meal, an attempt to serve us more bad food by offering us desert. I had to pass as I just couldn't stomache the idea of attempting to eat anything else there. My mother ,brave soul and the reason I decided to have dinner in Bklyn and Latino cuisine, had the spongy disgusting lame imitation of their bread pudding. I am mostly outraged at the misrepresentation of this establishment. I use Citysearch all the time to choose my restaurants and for the most part have found the reviews to be accurate. This was deceptive and unacceptable. I truly never write a review but this tragedy I wish on no one.

This is the first time ive been inclined to leave reviews on an eatery and ive been to places from your average neighborhood joint to tavern on the green. First off the food speaks for itself here, secondly the ambience is just right not overdone n pretentious or cheesey and tacky and lastly the staff is super friendly so much so i know them by name. Ed the owner is so welcoming,Pilar is the world's best hostess and Michelle the chef is second to none. Anyone that can make fish melt in your mouth deserves a Yummy ( foodie version of a grammy). Brunch is now going to be a sunday morning after church staple for me n my girls!

Amazing Bread Pudding!

First of all, this is the first review I've ever written for a restaurant, but Tamboril is well-deserved of it. The space is cozy, warm, intimate. The service is exceptional and Ed, the owner, takes time to chat with you to make sure all is well. The food is AMAZING and the desserts are to die for. I had the chocolate cake and my mom, the bread pudding. We literally took one bite and put our forks down as in ""praise to the chef"" good, I might as well have licked the plate. I will be back!!!

Diamond In the Rough

My friends from work ( we call ourselves the roadies) and I decided to try Tamboril one Friday night. We are happy we did. The service - excellent, the food - OMG!...Everything was fresh and scrumptious. We ordered bacalao cakes for appetizers. They were delicious so light and tasty. The sauce heavenly. I had the salmon and that was delicious also. Everyone raved about the food. The desserts were simply delicious.I never had coconut flan before. I will be ordering it every time I go there now. The mango cheesecake -to die for. We bought our own wine with us as they don't have their liquor license yet.. We did not mind that at all. The owner Ed sat with us for awhile. We were impressed. The decor is hip and cute. The atmosphere was relaxed yet festive. We will be making ""road"" trips there often
