Teeth Cleaning
We recommend routine dental visits every 6 months and should begin as soon as your child’s first teeth come in. A dental cleaning, also called prophylaxis cleaning, is a terrific preventive measure that can keep oral issues and disease at bay.
Fluoride Treatment
To keep your child’s tooth enamel strong and healthy, the appointment ends with a fluoride treatment. Fluoride strengthens the molecular bonds within the enamel, helping to ward off dental decay. For infants and younger children, Dr. Krepkh paints on fruit flavored fluoride varnish. For older children, the doctor will use a fluoride gel that comes in many flavors.
Dental Sealants
Sometimes brushing is not enough, especially when it comes to those hard-to-reach spots in your child’s mouth. It is difficult for a toothbrush to get in between the small cracks and grooves on your child’s teeth. If left alone, those tiny areas can develop tooth decay. Sealants give your child’s teeth extra protection against decay and help prevent cavities. The sealants are quickly and painlessly applied by Dr. Krepkh, and they harden immediately. Sealants are recommended for children and adolescents.

Fillings
Sometimes, traditional dentists treat patients with metal or silver fillings. Metal fillings are made of a material called amalgam, which consists of metals like zinc, silver, and up to 50% mercury. Mercury is essential to holding these different metals together and giving the filling its durability. However, many scientists agree that dental amalgam fillings do leach mercury into the mouth, and may contribute to many health issues.
Resin Composite
As an alternative, many people turn to modern composite resin filling materials, which are strong, durable, and blend beautifully with the smile – offering a more natural-looking smile in fact than traditional amalgam metal fillings. However, this more aesthetically pleasing option is likely to contain a chemical known as Bisphenol A, or BPA for short. BPA is a controversial chemical found in plastics that has been related to health illness. Just as mercury fillings leak trace amounts of mercury over time into the bloodstream, scientists have managed to find oral enzymes that leak BPA into the bloodstream from composite dental fillings.
Crowns
If your child has significant tooth decay or damage, Dr. Krepkh may recommend a pediatric crown to restore your child’s tooth instead of extracting it. Crowns are placed on teeth that have large areas of decay that could possibly break if restored with a simple filling material.

Pulpotomy
Pulpotomy: a partial pulp removal. In this procedure, the entire, inflamed pulp chamber is removed. However, Dr. Krepkh will leave the tooth root area still intact and alive. The empty part of the tooth is filled with dental cement and a stainless steel crown, which will restore the tooth until its natural time to fall out.
Root Canal Treatment
Endodontic* Treatment is also called pediatric pulp therapy and is commonly referred to as Baby Tooth Root Canal Therapy, is designed to save infected or damaged primary teeth. This is usually a result of tooth decay that has made its way into the pulp chamber.

In general, interceptive treatment allows the doctor to take advantage of your child’s growth and development to complement any needed orthodontics.
