About Search Results

YP - The Real Yellow PagesSM - helps you find the right local businesses to meet your specific needs. Search results are sorted by a combination of factors to give you a set of choices in response to your search criteria. These factors are similar to those you might use to determine which business to select from a local Yellow Pages directory, including proximity to where you are searching, expertise in the specific services or products you need, and comprehensive business information to help evaluate a business's suitability for you. “Preferred” listings, or those with featured website buttons, indicate YP advertisers who directly provide information about their businesses to help consumers make more informed buying decisions. YP advertisers receive higher placement in the default ordering of search results and may appear in sponsored listings on the top, side, or bottom of the search results page.

Income tax and insurance --with a human touch! Lesley is both competent and caring, with fast & efficient service, and a friendly smile for all her clients. And she handles both individual and business tax issues with reasonable & competitive fees. While her corner office is misleadingly small, she has been in business for many years, and is open all year round - not just at tax time. Plus the office is very conveniently located mere steps away from the Greenpoint Avenue subway stop on the G train, as well as the B62/B43/B24 bus lines. In addition, for those extra complex tax issues, she is an EA (enrolled agent). This is a federally-authorized tax practitioner who has technical expertise in the field of taxation and who is empowered by the U.S. Department of the Treasury to represent taxpayers before all administrative levels—examination, collection, and appeals—of the Internal Revenue Service. Based on my experience, I suggest you stop here first for a consultation with Lesley to see what she can do for you - instead of risking other fly-by-night & so-called "tax preparers" or insurance agents. You'll be glad you did.

We worked with Mauro for two years. Let me say first that Mauro is a very nice guy and it’s a pleasure to interact with him. He was very accommodating to our schedule and we often had calls with him and our financial advisor after hours to discuss our tax strategies for next year, which are probably more complicated than many other people have. And he’s quite good at quickly responding to emails and phone calls.Still, we decided to part ways with him last year. Why? The quality of his work was quite low. By looking over our tax returns we spotted a mistake, which prompted us to carefully review them line by line. We found almost a dozen errors, some of them for thousands of dollars. The errors were of different kinds: Our income numbers were copied incorrectly from W2; donations were entered twice in two different lines in the form; we were surprised to see non-qualified IRA distributions even though we did not touch our IRA’s; etc… My wife and I literally spent hours going over the forms and double-checking everything. Mauro’s response to this was that 1) this is normal and clients always need to check the work of tax-prep people and 2) his firm buys a very expensive and complicated tax program to fill these forms and “the program did it”.After all these problems, his firm billed us the full amount that they charge for tax prep. We decided not to fight it in court (who has time for that?), but we are going to find a new company to do our taxes this year, one that knows the tax code a bit better and pays enough attention to numbers so that we don’t have to spend hours double-checking their work for them.
