Sears Parts & Repair Center

I have a warranty agreement on my furnace, so I had the Sears Home Services come to do a routine maintainence check. I bought the furnace 8 years ago, and am selling the house next year, and wanted to make sure everything was ok with the furnace.

I was extremely disappointed with this visit, but not because of the repairman. My dryer - less than 3 months old! - was not fully drying a load of clothes, despite me varying the size of the load, switching to different cycles. Before arriving at my house the repairman called and suggested that this is often a problem with the venting, and gave me a way to check myself before he came and I incurred a service charge. When I told him it was blowing hot air out, I asked him to please come, because I needed to make sure this would work.

When he arrived, he did determine it was a venting issue. However, he told me he was not able to fix the venting (even though it had been hooked up by the Sears installers) because it's considered an accessory - part of my house. He is only allowed too work on the actual dryer. ABSURD - I'm unable to use my dryer!

I paid for the service call, spent a better part of the morning waiting for him to get there, and was left with a non-functioning dryer.
