Great food, great service.
This owner is the same as when it was Casablancas. As you know Casablanca went out of business. The owner was one of those who would circle the dining room and bother the diners, then he would go cook. We were in there one time, ordered roast beef au jus and it was ice cold. We told the waitress and she apologized. She brought it back. When it came back out it was burnt. The waitress was so embarrassed. We told her to forget about it and take it back. She turned pale. She said that this is what the owner does when he is mad. You cannot criticize his food or else. She said if I take this back the owner will freak out and he will take it out of my pay. Two minutes later the owner came out and screamed at us. What a nut! He stood there in the middle of the dining room and yelled at us for 5 minutes. Fast forward to the new Alexanders. We were so happy Casablanca was gone. We tried it out one night. Food was just ok. We mentioned to the waitress about our Casablanca experience. She said it was the same owners but now they insist that the crazy owner stay in the kitchen. She said it was working a little better. That night we had escargot (just so so) and their special pasta dish. It was supposed to have sun dried tomatoes. I think there were two skinny slices in the whole dish and the chicken was dry. The people we were with seemed to enjoy their dishes. Just recently we called for take out. I asked if they could prepare a Salmon dish without tomatoes. (The owners son) said no problem he would make it with artichokes and capers. I explained that one of the people ordering was allergic to tomatoes. I went to pick up our large order.(four apps and entrees) I waited for some time and then the order came out. The Salmon was clearly made with tomatoes. The son said that he would make it again. I told him no, just take the salmon off of the bill. The rest of the order (cold already) was going to get colder. He said he cannot refund my money. I insisted and then he went off to the kitchen. All of a sudden the cook (owner), same crazy guy came barreling out of the kitchen. He started screaming at me saying that either I take the salmon as is or else, no refund. He stood there with his hands on his hips yelling and swearing. I could not believe I was experiencing him again. I told him I wanted a full refund. He just kept yelling NO! We left the whole order there. Needless to say we will not go back and neither should anyone else. We gave it a few tries ( a few too many) The food was less than average anyway and the prices on the high side for what they serve
