Do used appliances consume more power than new ones?
Used appliances do not necessarily use more power than new ones. However, depending on the age, make, and model, most new appliances maximize energy efficiency compared to older appliances. Appliances in poor condition will also be less efficient and might not perform as well. It’s generally safe to assume a newer product will be more economical in energy consumption than older models, but there are occasional exceptions to the rule.
Where is the best place to buy used appliances?

It does not necessarily cost more to repair older used appliances. Cost is completely dependent on the nature of the repair, availability of parts, and the labor required. Some places specialize in older appliances and; finding someone with access to parts and knowledge of older machines might be a fiscally savvy choice over paying for a costly replacement.

Used appliances can potentially be a lot cheaper than buying a new appliance. Competing prices, product type, and supply-and-demand all factor into the price--and thus the savings--point. Some older appliances are not as energy efficient as their newer counterparts and could ultimately cost you more in increased utility bills. Used appliances will almost always be cheaper, so if you’re on a budget, it’s often a better option.
