I saw all the negative reviews and said hmm let me go and see. well they are all wrong my friends!! Water glasses clean! Service Awesome!! Food I had Fahiltas were perfect. Rice was tender and delish. Also FYI most mexican places use a "mix" for their margaritas so what?? It was yummy. I have been to All the top Mexican places in Ct. This place def ranks up with them. I hate people who pick on places like that, go to mexico if you are so picky! way to go dos amigos. and by the way the place was packed!!!!
Had lunch at bar. Slow afternoon. Only 4 others there. Was freezing in bar! Never took coat off. Husband ordered margarita on the rocks. Said it was the worst one he's ever had. I had white wine sangria. Tasted like wine over ice with some tiny pieces of chopped up fruit. (Best white wine sangria- O'portos in Htfd!) ordered guac. We were never given plates, utensils or napkins. When our hot apps came out we requested those items from the man that brought us our food. (Bartender seemed very new and completely out of his element) waited several mins. Food getting cold. Bartender was busy with other customer. Had to go to dining room and request those items again. Utensils, napkins and plates should not have to be requested several times after food has been served. Would never go back. Food was only so so. Service is a major issue there. Glad we had a gift certificate and didn't waste our own money
Do not bother! I picked up stuff to go. I know I should have checked the bag. No pico, no sour cream which I asked for and it was clearly noted on the receipt. What is up with that rice?? Peas, really?? Not impressed and went there because the Moe's line was a mile long. I should have waited in it! I don't know how this place can come close to competing with that much better place across the street, and even El Sombrero which is more out of the way. Will not recomment and will not go back. I miss Carmines!
Very excited to have a Mexican restaurant in Bristol! The place looks great... Hostess was very nice and greeted us right away. Warm chips and salsa were on the table within minites and the server was very nice. The house Margeritas were really good with just the right amount of tequila and fresh fruit. We were told they were made fresh everyday and it shows. The food came out in a decent amount of time considering it was a full house and they just opened not to long ago. We had Chili relenos as an appitizer.. It was delicous and full of flavor. Shredded pork chimichangas and dos amigos burrito were excellent and all entrees seemed reasonably priced. We will Definetly be back and look forward to trying different dishes on the menu.
Chips were cold, although the salsa was flavorful with a healthy amount of cilantro. The biggest reason for the 1 star was the service. We went there today for the first time, was ignored by the host at the front for a full minute while he carried on a conversation with a waitress. Then we were ignored by the waiting staff who failed to get us drink refills. As I said earlier, the chips and salsa were served with cold chips, and the meal was average. I'd recommend going to Southington and eat at Puerto Vallarta.
Terrible experience. Our family resides in Burlington, every Friday we dine out mostly on Route 44 or West Hartford. We were excited when a new restaurant open on Route 6.
After being open for 2 weeks we gave Dos Amigos a try. What a major disappointment. First off our water glass was dirty with lipstick marks present. Our dinners arrived cold with the rice and refried bean at room temperature. Our server was very apologetic. We would have been better off crossing the street and going to Moes or down the road to Chilis.
I tipped our server $10.00 on a $40.00 bill. I won't be going back!
The place its self was very well decorated. That was the only good part! the drinks had no flavor as well as the food. the service was not the best we were not asked if everything was ok. they servers were also inexperienced except for one or 2 that we saw. the serveres did ot know spanish which was a little weird specially because it was a mexican restuarant. when we asked what type of alcohol they had we were told they did not kow and that they would go check which took a while. the plates also all tasted pretty much the same given that we ordered very different meals. overall i think this restuartant needs a lot of work.
We decided we would try the New Mexican restaurant in town last night...and what a bust it was. The.service was ok but not great. It was the food that made it a bad experience. I ordered a chimichanga with chicken, side of rice and pico de galla. The wrap of the chimichanga was soft and.mushy, and it tasted like toast?!?!.the rice was boil in bag vegetable rice (no lie) and the chicken was rubbery and seemed like precooked chicken in a bag. The sauce was gross and not authentic Mexican at all. And to add to it my drink was not hand made either...it was a pre mix. It was a huge disappointment to say the least.
The worst Mexican food I've ever had! The margaritas tasted like ice with a little lime flavor... The chicken fajitas were drenched in a tomato sauce...??? My boyfriends burrito was the size of a single enchilada serving with a rubbery cheese coating...the rice was a yellow rice with no flavor. Service was slow and we had extra charges on the bill which we did not order. The salsa was watery and the chips a little greasy ... I'll admit I'm a little picky about my Mexican food, being from TX and all, but this was the worst Mexican food I've had in CT since I've lived here!! We could have went to the local Chilis, had the same meal for less money and been happier!
