I have been going to their Newbury St. location for laser hair removal treatments since October 2010 and the results so far surpass all my expectations!
My first consultation was with the clinic manager, Carla, who was most welcoming and patient with all my questions and concerns. She took the time to provide in-depth explanations about the procedures and was willing to work with my budget.
My experience with the laser treatments has been phenomenal. I saw great results from day 1 and upgraded to a Full body package, knowing I was making a really good investment in my own self care. If you are considering laser treatments, I highly recommend Sofia. She is not only knowledgeable, highly skilled, meticulous and thorough in her work, but also a great person to chat with during treatments. Time flies, and before you know it, she has distracted you through a painful Brazilian session, swiftly and efficiently. She has such a warm, reassuring presence and is always ready to address any fears/concerns/questions I have. I wouldn't trust anyone else with these treatments and the results are amazing...she is a rare find indeed!
The Center itself is brand new, clean, and very accessible by T. As you step into this calming oasis, you'll be greeted by its friendly front desk staff and be guided to a treatment room for your procedure of choice. Take a deep breath, relax, you're in good hands...

I am a client of American Laser Centers, and I go to the Brighton, MA location for my treatments. I've been a client with the company since 2005 and I love the services they have to offer and their guarantee is phenomenal!! The past 2 managers in the Brighton location were not friendly by any means, but now that the clinic has new management since October of 2009, I look forward to getting my treatments done! Since then I have added on many additional areas, because the experience is so much better than it was before! I would recommend the Brighton clinic to anyone who lives remotely near the Boston area. The staff is extremely friendly and ain't bad looking either!

Un update to my earlier review. I've still received no contact from this company at all after I filed a claim with them about not getting any hair reduction results after over 2 years of treatments. I filed reports with the Better Business Bureau and Mass. Attorney General's Office. This company is a complete fraud. I've come to realize American Laser Center in Brighton is running the service equivalent of a Ponzi Scheme.
After you put down this huge payment, often in the thousands, to protect themselves they make you sign a contract which essentially says ""This might not work."" Even though what comes out of the seller's mouth is an overly optimistic idea of what your results will be. Then they tell you the guarantee is for two years of continued treatments if it doesn't work. Throughout the two years, they cross-sell you all kinds of other services like micro-derm abrasions and other creams, products and treatments. You want to stop but now you can't because you're in too deep with all the money you've dished out so far. They know you'll rationalize sticking through it because you have too.
After the 2 years is up and they've siphoned thousands from you, and you have no results to show for it, they say, ""some people get results and some people don't, as it says in the contract you signed. But thanks for all of your money. ""
Stay away!!!! Tell anyone you know that inquiries about them and seek retribution if you've been a victim.

The nice things first: I have been going to the American Laser Center (Brentwood Tennessee office) for over a year and a half and have never seen the office dirty. I work in an operating room and am over sensitive about dust and clutter. The staff is friendly./////
Now the not so nice things: The over $4,000.00 I spent PLUS the time involved has not paid off in results and it is very disheartening. I am on my 8th hair removal treatment and have only seen a 40-50% reduction in hair. I can't justify the money I spent on under arms, full bikini, and leg(s) hair removal. /////
I was frustrated on my 6th visit when photos was taken of all areas (under arms, full bikini, and legs) to show progress of the hair removal. We are instructed to shave before our appointments at home because the laser will not work if the hair is there. Photos after I shaved does not show progress.
Other issues, the phone goes to answering machine most of the time. I've left up to three messages over a 5 day window before someone called back. The first time this happen I thought it was just a temporary issue but have had similar thing happen several times in the last year and half. /////
My appointments are every 7 weeks apart. However, scheduling conflicts with American Laser in Brentwood may make them 8 to 9 weeks apart. I'm not happy about that. /////
I've researched several medical journals that hair laser could be every 4 weeks apart but ALC has rejected this as acceptable practice. /////
Having poor results upsets me the most but second to that is: The technician swears she does not skip areas while applying the laser but she does. She should research ""Two-Point Discrimination on skin"". I (clients) can tell when areas are skipped and it takes away their creditability to insist otherwise. But I have over $4,000 invested in the hair package and I signed a contract so I have no recourse but to go back each time, go by their rules, and hope for the best.

I started with American Laser Center in Brighton in April of 2007 with 2 friends. We also had won a 300.00 dollar coupon at a bridal show.
Once I started treatment, I realized that the manager was horrible, the staff was unhappy and they always ran behind.
Since the new management took over at the end of the summer, it's a whole new experience. The manager is friendly and professional, the staff are always smiling, happy, and professional. They now run on time, which is a plus with my busy schedule.
All of the girls are licensed esthiticians through the state of Massachusetts ( I asked before signing on the dotted line, as I am a nurse) and they are very knowledgable about the services.
When I met with the manager for my consult, she not only answered all of my questions, I had alot, but she was able to give specific and accurate facts about all of the procedures.
(I checked everything out with a friend of mine who is a dermatologist in another state and she told me to ""go for it."")
I am very happy with my progress and I look forward to throwing away the razor blades. One of my friends does the skin rejuvenation procedure and is thrilled. I too, was skeptical about my friend having what I consider an ""older womens"" treatment. She has beautiful skin. To my surprize, she said to me "" do you think my skin just looks this?"" Silly me. It's never to early to start preventative measures.

I entered my name into a raffle at College Fest in Boston and ended up getting 3rd prize and got $300 off any surgery (apparently that's what you get just for entering the contest). I went in for my free consultation and was greeted by Mimi who was very informative about the whole process. I told her which process I wanted, which was going to be around $650 including the lotions and she then asked me if I was definitely going to do it. I said, ""Well, can I think about it?"" and she said that I had to make up my mind on the spot if I wanted to get $300 off. So I tried calling my mom to ask her what she thought but of course no reply when I need her. (Once I was able to contact her later she told me she wouldn't have done it because it sounded extremely fishy and I should try claiming buyer's remorse or whatever . . . but you can't do that in MA). So I went with it. First time I went they were trying to get me to do microdermobrasion. Second time I went they were offering underarms and bikini for $1695 or something like that. I'm 18 years old. I can't afford all these things. The lady seemed shocked that I had paid for it by myself and she said, ""Well at least you are financing it"". Wait, what? I was never told about this. I could finance it?! Mimi had never told me about this option which was apparently available.
I still don't really regret getting this done. I had always wanted to do it. I have four treatments left. Right now I'm going through Hell trying to contact them about changing my appointment date. They don't post the local number online and they won't respond to my emails even though they say they'll respond within 24 hours. If the hair is completely removed in the end, I will have no regrets. However, after reading these reviews and looking back at the experiences I've had so far, I'm hitting myself in the head.
Pros: No more hair!
Cons: Pushy people, somewhat deceptive, amateur

I was also a ""3rd place winner"" and received a $300 gift certificate. It sounds like they are deceiving people about winning prizes, which is not legal.
I agree 100% with everything that has been said previously: unprofessional at best, pushy, and deceptive about treatments. I already submitted a 30-day demand letter for a refund that Kate has ignored. I plan to submit a complaint with the attorney generals office and I suggest that others do the same. I also noticed that there are at least 2 pending complaints with the 3 B's place stands for 1st word: ""Really Good,"" 2nd word ""another term for company,"" 3rd word ""a div of govt or a chest of drawers."" (would have used the long words, but apparently they are banned from citysearch!) So clearly we are not the first to feel this way.

At first I thought my experience was unusual, but after reading the posts above, clearly I'm not the only one who found the Brighton ALC unprofessional and sleazy. Their customer service is terrible--they kept me waiting for half an hour, then used the wrong laser until I realized it was different and spoke up (my hair requires they use one machine in particular, they used the other one--apparently this either wasn't in my chart or the girl simply didn't read it). Employees kept walking in and out of my room to get things with no regard for my privacy or the fact that I was lying there undressed below the waist, and to make matters worse, the girl who started with me got off work halfway through, so she just left and had another girl take her place. The second girl was even worse; she pointed out my terrible skin and wouldn't let it go in an effort to sell me microdermabrasion treatments. She kept repeating that she ""is a medical technician"" and therefore knows best; that would be news to my dermatologist, as he says I am not a good candidate. I have nothing against ALC in general, but do yourself a favor and avoid this one like the plague--you're paying too much money to be treated so poorly.

I am upset to not have done my research before signing on the dotted line. I was also a ""winner."" Initinially my mind was made up. I did not want whatever they were selling after walking into the dingy retro seventies waiting room. Having been at Brookline Beauty Therapy, I felt this place was pale in comparision on looks alone. Somehow, I was suckered into their discounts and no interest plans. After my first laser hair treatment, I felt as if nothing was different. Second time around, the same result. Today, I went in and I was told there is a new laser machine. Hopefully, I will begin to see some difference soon before my 2 year is over.

Like another poster, a few months ago I too ""won"" a gift certificate for $300 worth of treatment. When I went in for the consult they told me the g.c. was only good towards the purchase of a series of treatments and the manager (Kate) then tried to sell me thousands of dollars' worth of treatments. I'm sure this has to be illegal bait-and-switch on some level. I'm no push-over to hard sales so I stood my ground until the price came down to what I knew was a good deal (and down it DID come, since a customer walking out the door is worse than lowering your prices). Now, every time I am there for an appointment the techs try to push more services on me to purchase that day because ""prices are going up next week."" They are currently pushing micro-dermabrasion - no thanks, I think I'll go to a dermatologist or trained esthetician for that! I am determined to get my money's worth out of my contract but will never sign up for any new services with them. Also, the building is old and dingy (not their fault, I suppose) and the treatment rooms look dirty and shabby (definitely their fault). The techs are usually pleasant but a bit rough around the edges - I feel kind of sorry for them since they are obviously under enormous pressure to push new sales on clients.

I ""won 3rd prize"" from the american laser center website, a gift certificate for $300. Turns out anyone who enters the contest receives this, and it is just a ploy to get you into the office and strong arm you into spending thousands of dollars. I have never witnessed such a transparent sales pitch in my life. They easily discount their prices ""50%"" or more and offer you a 0% interest charge card to try and get you to spend your money and make it look like a good deal.
I unfortunately blindly got suckered into the service. During my free consultation, we discussed doing my underarms and eyebrows for $700 (originally $1000 minus my gift certificate). I don't think the words ""yes i want this treatment"" ever came out of my mouth, she just drew up the papers. Once we were signing papers i realized she had written down $1000, plus $120 for lotions and sunscreen i didn't know i would be needing. I had already signed on the dotted line. Now i'm $1000 in debt for a service i was not even sure I wanted in the first place.
My rep was pushy and unprofessional in her demeanor and it was overall a bad experience. If you choose to have treatment here, make sure you stand your ground and don't get pushed into spending money.

I had an appointment to come in on a Saturday night at 7 pm and turned out after a 45 minute drive and some tolls...they made an error and overlooked my appointment and asked me to come back the next day! I was so furious that because of their mistake, I have to pay for it. I slammed the door on the way out.
They were unprofessional and wouldn't recommend this place for anyone who spend a fortune and get turned away.

I went in for a consult and noticed what appeared to be the manager (Blond heavy woman, I heard someone call her Kate) behaving so rudely and unprofessionally to her staff that I decided to leave before my consult. There are too many other laser hair removal centers out there; this woman was such a turn off
I could not imagine patronizing this establishment .

The manager is extremely nice and friendly until you sign the contract; once you do, forget it!!!! she is the beast with no beauty!!!!! Very unfriendly attitude, moody, not welcoming at all, with her fake smile she is waiting for you to make a comment of any kind to just jump on you. She offends everybody for no reason. Unprofessional individual in all means, techs keep changing, every time I am there, there is a new one. No wonder why!!!! Very unpleasant creature to communicate with. To be honest, I learned about the high quality of customer service since I got to this country 6 years ago, and believe me this place knows nothing about it. The Worst I dealt with in my 6 years. I sometimes feel bad for the techs who work there because they are hard workers and endowed with friendly attitudes. I would not recommend that location as long as Kate is the manager there. For the laser technique itself, nothing to worry about no pain no burning nothing. I personally think it is the same technique everywhere especially with so many places offering it nowadays so might as well choose one with professional individuals. The place itself is less than ok, I have seen better. Try Sleek, they are good. I cant wait to finish my treatment at that place. Good luck to all.
