In 1987 Joe Ellerd opened the doors of Prokill Pest Control in Texas City. His oldest son Tim joined the family business in 1992 and opened the branch in Brazoria County. Our first priority and goal is 100% customer satisfaction. Insects and Spiders

Ants
Carpenter Ants are one of the most common ant species they are. They are most commonly the larger black ants, but do come in a variety of sizes and colors. Carpenter ants hollow out dead, moist wood, firewood, and fences,but do not ever eat the wood. They nest in wood rather and also can be found indoors in wall voids, eaves, crawl spaces, and attics. Sometimes their nest can grow to thousands of ants. Found throughout the USA, they feed on insects during the summer but often invade structures in spring and fall looking for other food sources. These ants eat sweets and are known to forge at nights. Another key identifier is that they have a circle of hairs at the tip of their abdomen. Also evidence of frass (tiny bits of sawdust material with parts of dead insects) is a good indication of a colony close by. Keep in mind it is common that carpenter ant colonies do produce swarmers (winged ants) and is another clue that the colony is close by.

Fleas
Adult cat fleas are about 1/8-inch long and range in color from brownish-black to black. The thin body has several segments and three pairs of legs. The longer back legs contribute to the flea's jumping ability.
Cockroaches
Although all cockroaches may look alike, there are actually five species common to south Texas: German, Brown-banded, Oriental, American and Smokey Brown.
Silverfish
Silverfish are common house-invading pests. They will readily feast on flour, dried meat, rolled oats, paper and even glue. Considered mostly a nuisance, they damage paper goods, stain cloth and contaminate food. They are usually brought into the home in foodstuffs, furniture, old books and papers..
Bees
Carpenter bees resemble bumble bees, but the upper surface of their abdomen is bare and shiny black; bumble bees have a hairy abdomen with at least some yellow markings.
Wasps
Paper wasps have a small head, with medium sized eyes and medium length antennae. The body is slender, with a very narrow waist and the length is about 1-1.5cm. There are two pairs of brown-tinted wings, with the first pair larger. The abdomen has some yellow/orange bands, but is mainly black.
Ticks
Termidor bonds to the soil in which it is applied, so homeowners need not worry about soil movement. In addition, fipronil has been used extensively on food crops around the world and as the leading product for flea and tick control on dogs and cats for since 1993.
Earwigs
Earwigs are dark, reddish-brown insects which are easily identified by the pincer-like projections on the tip of the abdomen, called forceps. Both males and females have forceps. The most common species in Illinois, the European earwig, is 5/8 of an inch long.
Palmetto Bugs
American Roaches are larger reddish-brown cockroaches which usually forage outside. They average around an inch and a half in length and some species have wings. They can feed on grains, sweets, and some plants. They can be found in crawl spaces and woodpiles around the house. Occasionally they enter randomly inside homes because of temperature changes and various other reasons. Other names are water bugs and Palmetto bugs.

Rodents
Mice
House mice are occasionally found in fields, but usually in buildings. They will eat most anything and breed year round having as many as a dozen litters a year of 5-8 young each. Young are able to breed at six weeks. Because this mouse chooses to live near humans, it is considered a pest. This species is the one sought after in trapping and poisoning efforts by humans
Rats
The ability of Rats and mice to survive in mankind's world is legend. They exist worldwide and will readily invade well-maintained suburban residences as well as garbage dumps. If allowed to proliferate, rats and mice can pose a serious health hazard as well a be a significant economic problem, in that they both contaminate food and destroy much property by gnawing.
