After carefully reviewing many different hotel/motels in the area i finally decided on the Colonial Motel & Spa. And with out a doubt it was the best choice. I happily ate a fantastic dinner at their Tavern Resturant along with the best apple crisp i think ive ever had in my life. And after dinner i was able to swim laps in their 75 foot salt water pool. And if you missed that i did say salt water. I also enjoyed their sauna and steamroom which was located in the locker rooms, so i felt quite comfortable. The hot tub was just what i need after a long day on the road, and ended my night well. My room was above and beyond what i had hoped for and the photos on their website dont do them any justice. I opted for a king sized colonial room, which was amazing and quite large. I definatly had the room i need to stretch out. The breakfast in the morning was satifing and i enjoyed a few slices of their home made bread, my favorite was the banana bread. I cant wait for my next trip through southern Vermont so i can stay again!

I've stayed at the Colonial six or seven times over the years. Usually, I stopover en route to Northern Vermont for one night but I've also stayed for the weekend. The big draw is the heated indoor pool for my kids, but it is also centrally located to the highway as well as all the shops, etc. in Brattleboro. The staff is very nice and helpful, there's a good restaurant and bar on the premises, and the rooms are good and clean. Nothing fancy but dependable and has a nice feel.

When traveling on a budget usually your choices are limited to chains with no amenities or character. The Colonial is a gem in this market. The rooms are huge, the size of some suites. It has a large indoor pool and spa. It has a high quality Continental breakfast that is sparse but just what the traveler needs to give them a little fuel to start the day.The topper for me though is the staff and the tavern. The desk staff is helpful , professional, and courteous. The first time I walked into the place , Kate the server that night, made me feel like I had been coming there for years. It was near closing and I never felt like she was rushing me along. The second time I called in a food order at Kate's suggestion and was stunned at the quality of the ingredients and the presentation. I would have paid much more for this same dish in a big city tavern. One of the owners Carmin sat and chatted with me for a half an hour once again making me feel like I was with old friends. No need for me to ever shop around for a hotel when I am near this town. I'll go where it feels like home.

I just returned from a ski trip and it was certainly one of the best I've ever been on thanks in part to this motel. When I first looked at the place on the internet, I didn't know what to expect. I was prepared to sleep in a small, filthy room. Boy was I surprised. The rooms are larger than most Marriott rooms and they were very clean. Yes, the rooms did look antiquated, but that just added to the New England charm. The old-fashioned radiator was perfect for setting wet gloves and boots on. The staff was very friendly and made you feel right at home. Although we did not go swimming, we looked around the pool building. The pool was almost too hot, the steam room and sauna looked very clean, and it looked like they even had a massage room (all of which surprised me because this place is classified as a MOTEL). A short drive away is are two great restaurants, Thai Bamboo and The Chelsea Royal Diner. I am already thinking about going back this summer! I would recommend this place to anybody.

Although the motel is a little worn around the edges, the exceptional service from the staff more than made up for the outdated rooms. Exceptional service from both the front desk and the bar--as well as some of the best food we'd had in New England made this a place I would happily return too.

As a lone business traveler I am often on the road and appreciate the hospitality and personal attention I receive when staying at the Colonial. I very much enjoy the New England charm offered at this motel and the delicious food at their very cozy restaurant The Tavern. On my most recent business visit to Brattleboro, I was tired and needed a good meal and I was happy to once again find the service at the motel and the food at the The Tavern better than I hoped for. The staff at both the restaurant and motel were friendly and helpful. I enjoyed relaxing by the roaring fire at the Tavern while watching the snow falling out the window. It was a very warm and inviting experience. I travel extensively on business throughout the northeast and always try to stay at locally owned and operated businesses. I have always found the Colonial to be a warm and inviting place to stay. I will be back!!

I only had a day pass for the pool. But I liked what I saw it was hard to find the pool from the street but once I found it I was greeted by a freindly staff member at the desk in the pool area who was polite and helpful. Water was clean in both the pool and Hottub the only noise was a toddler screaming and playing in the water it was more cute then bothersome. The water temp in both the hot tub and Pool was perfect as was the temp inside the bulding. The Outdoor hot had a view of the motel and moutains and was beatiful. I want to come back again.
