Poor troubleshooting of engine diagnostic codes by Scott's Automotive cost me several hundred dollars for unnecessary replacement parts that did not resolve the initial problem. I ended up having to take my car to Toyota who quickly diagnosed the problem and the required replacement parts at half the cost of what I spent at Scotts Automotive. My advice is to spend a little extra for the labor cost at the dealer and possibly save yourself a lot of aggravation and money.

Scott's Automotive has quality work, trustworthy service, and a good price. They were significantly better priced and had better advice than other establishments in the Brandon, Fl area. I would recommend anyone in the Riverview, Bloomingdale, Fishhawk and Plant City Area looking for auto repair to call them for a quote. You can tell by the new office area that they are meticulous and pay attention to detail.

I won't go back either nor will I recommend them to anyone. I have a regular car shop & they are also extremely busy but are always kind and considerate. I had to go here because the ins of the guy that hit my car sent me here to Scott's The owner/mgr acted like I was an inconvenience to him. I had asked them to also do an oil change while the car was there & was shocked when I came back and he said $39.99. I said ""is that just for the oil change"" He said ""Yeah - you want me to charge you for something else too?"" Up to this point I had been very nice to him and didn't deserve the snide comment - they charge more than a fast service oil change shop. The body work done was not that good - it was only the bumper but they missed fixing the corner of it, but I was so disgusted with the way I had been treated I didn't bother to bring it back. I also have a bad feeling about this place. I'm guessing ""Bendover"" works here. The price of an oil change can be beat anywhere.
I went here at the recommendation of some friends who rebuild cars for a hobby, and said they have him do repairs and maintenance. I have not had a mechanic I was enthusiastic about in my life, but they really know how to diagnose and make repairs. I had a series of maintenance recommendations from the dealer and another shop, and he pared it down to a smaller list. Also, I could never get other shops to do the "nasty" work easily, for example, everyone always says you need a tune up at 30K, 60K, 90K miles, etc. But what I found is, mechanics will "Cherry Pick" and do the easy things, and skip harder things like Spark Plugs during tuneups. (My last mechanic at 90K miles said, no need to change them, they're good!". Then a month later they went out, and he gave me a huge quote to do that too. It was negligent -- he should have done the plugs at 90K). Scott's gave me much clearer periodic maintenance guidelines, and I had some very odd things that were wrong (like a knocking sound in the air conditioning system) that he fixed very cheaply. They are REAL MECHANICS -- they have about 20 people working in a few garages. I asked one guy when he started doing this, he said, "5 years old with my dad.".
And when I went to pick up the car, he had about 20 "pick up" bills ready on the counter at the same time -- they do a huge huge amount of business. Use them I suggest.

I took my car in on a Friday evening an hour or so before closing. They are open for a few hours on Saturday, and the man (who I believe is the owner or runs the place) told me he would take a look at it on Sat. am. Saturday came and went and I did not hear back from Scott's Automotive. I felt like since they were open only for a few hours, this was acceptable, that possibly they had not looked at it yet.
On Monday, I wait during the morning wondering why they still had not called. Finally around 2:00 pm, I call, and the man who took my car in on Friday asks me, ""are you sure you brought your car into here?"" I was like yes of course. Finally after several minutes he finds my work order and then says that they wil look at it shortly. He calls me back a few hours later and says my car is ready.
Long story short - the reason I'm not going back to Scott's is because:
(1) they tell you to leave your key on the floor of your car. My car was probably sitting outside there for 2 days with the key sitting there saying ""hey, someone steal me.""
(2) He told me he would look at it and then forgot all about my car. So much for speedy service or being a responsible business owner who cares about customer service.
(3) When I came to pick up my car, he told me how he cleaned some corrosion off something, and then I asked if there was more corrosion on the car. He replies, ""There's so many things wrong with this car, you don't even want to know."" I thought this was unprofessional because he never told me what all these problems were. He didnt put them on the work order or anything. I partly felt that this was a ploy to get me back in for more work.
Overall, I got a very bad feeling about the place and will not go back and wouldn't suggest it to anyone.
