I've never been treated so rudely in my life. I called to see if she could alter a bridesmaids dress on rush. I realized this close to Christmas that not everyone can, so that's why I called. When I told her that it needed to be taken in a couple of sizes Ella says, "Listen, you girls need to realize that people don't know how to sew like they used to. Sewing is a lost art and they haven't sewn like that since World War II. And frankly, I don't have time do it." In shock, I replied, "Ok, I'll find someone else willing to do it." She says, "Good!" AND HANGS UP THE PHONE!!! I called back to get her name. I can't believe it's the store owner who is treating people like that. I understand if you can't or won't handle the task, but why can't you say it nicely? I have no reason to recommend her, no matter how fabulous her skills might be...

Take your business elsewhere. We sent our son to see her for a simple hem on his tuxedo pants which she quoted would cost $13.50. When he went to pick them up, she demanded $85. He said he took the tuxedo with him, she had him try the whole thing on and didn't mention what she was doing. He had never had anything altered, and since I told him to take his shoes that he would be wearing in...he figured he was just doing what was expected. She never told him there would be any expectation of $85 or that she was even doing additional alterations that weren't asked for, nor approved.

When I contacted her to ask, she said I had to take responsibility for the communication with my son, it was not her job to communicate with me. The other boy that brought his suit in, the same thing. $85. I explained to her that he didn't have $85. He was just 16, what did she think she was doing?? She responded that she 'didn't know how old they were, but they go to private school. I assumed they could afford it.'

WOW....hijacked for alterations because she ASSUMED THEY COULD AFFORD IT.

I questioned her approach as a business owner. She said, 'with the level of my business, my reputation can take the hit.'

It was clear there was no reasoning with her. I told her I would call her back to pay her after speaking to my husband. When I did...I tried to intervene for the other boy. I was calm, did not raise my voice, did not have anger, contempt, or a snide tone whatsoever. I t told her that just because a child attends a private school, it doesn't mean they are rich. Many children have scholarships and work to help pay for their education.'

She hung up on me. Not a joke. She simply hung up.

Being that this is 5 hours away, I was left with no alternative but to contact the police. Whatever the outcome, dealing with this shyster required intervention from the POLICE DEPARTMENT.
