Nothing but thieves and liers. Stole my security base on false accusation and lies. Told me I would have it back in 30 days (lie) told me on the phone I was not being charged for anything (lie) told me it would be in my mail box by day 45 ( lie) it was not even posted marked till day 51. The owner also can not even read.
Barry is very rude! He held an auction next door to my house. They were asked not to allow anyone to park in our yard during the auction. This was completely ignored! My sick mother was home and sent me photos of people parked in my front and side yard. Literally at my front door! There are huge ruts in my yard and all down the side leading toward the Back of the property where they allowed people to plow through like it was a highway! I went over to confront Barry and he wouldn't even stop to speak with me, he kept walking with his back turned and said "it's not my problem!" And that "it would be fine in a few days!" I just couldn't believe the lack of professionalism he had. He said "this is what happens at auctions, there are a lot of people" he wasn't auctioning off my property! He had no regard for the property that was damaged! This could have been prevented, and they were asked kindly not to allow people to park in our yard!! They have no problem allowing someone else's property to be destroyed!
I rented from select last year and I just moved out in October of 2016. When I moved in I payed a deposit of $600 and they informed me the they had to get the downstairs carpet changed and would have someone contact me. It took over 2 months for anyone to contact me. So there's that. Then when I moved out they said I should get my deposit back in a couple weeks. I knew I wasn't getting my deposit back cuz nobody ever does but what I did get in the mail was a letter claiming I owe them an additional $1077 for additional damages and a list of damages. Which is rediculous! so I call and explain to them I can't pay all of it at the same time and they said I could make payments. When I go to make my first payment they told me I would have to pay a promissory agreement and that if I didn't it would be sent to collections. So I had an appointment and I forget so I get another call saying sense my mom was a consigner and the other person I moved in with that they would also have to sign said agreement. But that didn't make any sense so I told them I didn't have contact with the ther person on the lease anymore and my mother wasn't goin to so they told me that I no longer had a choice either I signed the agreement or they sent it the next Friday. That was a Monday. They gave me 5 days. Not to mention the personal questions they tried to ask me. I have still yet to get things sorted. Select is a con artist orginization and nobody should ever rent from them. This also happened to 2 friends I had that also rented from there. Bad review. Wish I could do 0
They do not deserve the one star that is on there. This is the most unorganized, unprofessional, unethical, most disrespectful bunch I have ever had to deal with.
I rented here from 2013-2015, and could not wait to move out. We did a walk through with the management, and pointed out a number of things that should be fixed before we moved in. They had not fixed half of them. They promised to replace the carpet, they replaced half of the carpet. When the fridge broke, it was replaced a week later with a cheap factory second dented floor model. All complaints are treated as if the tenant had intentionally broken something in the apartment. It takes several weeks to have anything repaired. I would strongly recommend you avoid them at all costs.
You will regret leasing with this company. And you definitely do not want them to manage your home.
We used this company for about three years at the suggestion of the realtor we retained when we put our house on the market after we moved to another state, and who was associated with Coldwell Banker. Two of those years three years the tenants in our house had a lease, but the property mgr, Murray McCandless, allowed them to move in and live there several months before and after the lease expired. Mr. McCandless did not use our home warranty agreement for repairs part of the time, which cost us money out of pocket. The tenants, Gary and Lynn Matthews, damaged the carpet in the laundry room after overflowing the upstairs toilet, then claimed it was mildewed and we had to replace the flooring. There were several other things damaged and we were asked us to pay for the repairs. I kept asking if any of these items were on the pre-inspection move in sheet and was basically ignored. It took several inquires before Mr. McCandless emailed it to us. We received no other paperwork pertaining to the leasing of the house other than an agreement allowing this company to rent the house out. Mr. McCandless seemed to have the opinion that we had tenants who paid on time every month and we should do whatever necessary to keep them happy. Gary and Lynn Matthews, broke the lease they finally signed after we raised the rent, but then agreed to leave it at the same amount as previously if they signed a lease. They moved out a month later with no notice. I asked about putting this as a complaint against their credit score and the new property agent, Trevor Ayers, basically gave me the run around and finally said the people who do the background checks would have to do it and hadn't gotten back to him. The Matthews did not return one of the garage door openers and when the agent mailed the keys and remaining garage door opener that was returned, he put it in a 11x14 manilla envelope. When the envelope arrived, the garage door opener was missing and the envelope was torn. It's a miracle the keys were still in it. (Really, who would use a huge envelope instead of a small padded one?? )I asked for all the paperwork and still haven't received it. Mr. Ayers did send a check for the missing garage door opener, but stated his boss, Steven Cherry, refused to provide payment for the one opener the tenants didn't return although they had signed for two keys and two garage door openers. We are retired military and DoD and have lived in rentals most of our career. We have always left our rentals clean and usually in better shape than when we moved in, so it's not like we don't have experience. You couldn't pay us to use this company again and I certainly wouldn't recommend them to anyone else either. I also would never rent to the Gary and Lynn Matthews family again. Mrs. Matthews' idea of what is normal wear and tear is ridiculous!
