I've eaten here dozens of times over the past two years and have never witnessed any insect sightings. What I have seen (and eaten) is food that is made from very fresh ingredients, expertly prepared, Hong Kong style. Their soft shell crab, pea pod stems in garlic, crispy stuffed tofu are all highlights. And it's the only Chinese restaurant where I'll order fried rice or sweet and sour pork (light crispy battered, juicy not overcooked, with an authentic sauce and mixed veggies) without regrets. It's the best Chinese food I've had outside of New York, and better than anything in Boston Chinatown. Boston's Board of Health is among the strictest around, and if the r o a c h reports from last year are true, they'd be shut down by now. I'm going back.

Picked up my $5 lunch combo which included soup, egg fried rice, sesame chicken, and at least one r o a c h. If you're into eating insects, this might be the place for you. The r o a c h was nicely fried alongside the chicken... it took on the nice redish color of the oil. Looked crispy and not too overcooked...
Also, before finding the r o a c h... the chicken was dry on the outsides...

I work on Babcock St, close to Victoria Seafood. I have eaten there on several occasions, only
certain dishes such as the salt and pepper chicken wings, the lo mein, lobster, and salt and pepper shrimp.
So tonight i had a taste for the wings, the lo mein and shrimp. I live in newton but I pleaded with my Son-in-Law to drive to Boston to pick it up for me. I was starving when he arrived only to find a big insect on top of the
shrimp. I had heard stories from my co-workers before about finding a certain insect in their food! I didn't listen.
Today I'm telling everyone to listen....they serve along with their meals.
(this did not allow me to name the certain insect served, but I think you know what I found!) R o a c h e s

Hard to believe that a city with so many great chinese restaurants I had to walk into this place! Must be a new owner since previously had heard it was pretty good especially with lobsters. Surprised when I ordered the twin lobster special that it was ALL OUT. Ordered some other special on the menu like the fresh fish and was pleasantly surprised to find everything awful. Lousy decor and rude waiters. Manager ever worse when I had a question. I wont bore you with more except to say FORGET THIS PLACE.

I have been there about 4 times and its a hit or miss with the customer service. But I'll give my review that based on my experience last night, because it is basically all the same. It was hard to get the waiters attention. I had more that one waiter and also had to get up to pay my own bill. It seemed they constantly forgot about us on more than one occasion. They brought us the wrong food and what grossed me out was that even after they placed the food in frint of us and we all talked over it, they took it back and gave it to the correct table. I'm sure the people who ate the food wouldn't have if they knew it was talked over prior to them receiving it. All in all, the service is bad and I don't reccomend going if you expect decent service when you are a paying customer. I'm sure I will never go again.

It's hard to enjoy any meal at this restaurant because of the extremely rude service from the entire staff. While waiting for a table, we attempted to ask the cashier a question. She completely ignored us and when I finally got her attention she was EXTREMELY rude. When I expressed my disappointment with some of her answers she actually said in a very loud voice: ""Next time don't come here!"" While most chinese restaurants have impatient wait staff, the treatment we got at this restaurant was on another level. I will never go back to this place. Take your money elsewhere. The food is ok but you won't be able to enjoy it because you'll be fuming from being disrespected and ignored by everyone at this place.

This was the worst display of customer service that I EVER experienced. Our waiter was impatient and rude. We asked him about the preparation of the lobster and he responded to us as though we were bothering him. He was quite impatient while taking our order; He actually walked away while my girlfriend was in mid-sentence placing her order. He returned without saying ""excuse me"" or apologizing. I regret not leaving before my food came because it never got better. He never once asked if we needed anything else. A different waiter brought us the check and he was also rude. These people need a lesson in people skills. Do yourself a favor and keep looking for other restaurants.
My favorite there is pork with jellyfish. The radish in this dish is quite crispy and sweet, giving a perfect balance of taste. This place is also a real place for cheap buy : 13 bucks for 2 lobsters , 9 bucks for well cooked two big crabs, and 4-dollar lunch special with free appetizer and soups. The only thing I don't like is the service there, which is a typical problem of most chinese restaurants around Boston. Some times the waiters ,even the boss himself, are rude. If they can really improve their service, this restaurant may become the one among the best. Overall it is a good place to go for both students and families.
I really don't understand what the other reviews found positive about this place! We went there twice and we are very dissatisfied. The seafood was decent and weel-priced however, the beef and chicken dishes were less than average. But the worst thing was the incompetent and rude service ( I frequently go out to Chinese restaurants and I really don't expect a great service). It took us three attempts to get a glass of water! The second time we went the owner made us wait for 20 min. while he seated other guests (friends?) that arrived after us. When we complained he was so rude that we left immediately. I dont see any reason to go there again! You will find better food and service anywhere but here!

This is my favorite Chinese restaurant outside of NYC. The menu is large, the food authentic and consistently great. Try the shrimp with spicy salt--and eat the heads and tails--you won't be disappointed. The atmosphere is weird because the large back area has no windows. The service is apathetic but fast. The owners need to redecorate and teach the waitstaff how to be more friendly--once they do this, this place will get the audience it deserves.
