It seems as though the cleaning part of the business is very last on the priority list -- I just hope that isn't the case in the kitchen. They reuse their place mats over and over. The last time I was there, mine stuck to my wrist! And all they have to do is give the place a good deep clean every so often and burn those place mats and I'd probably up the rating to a 4....assuming the kitchen gets regular visits from the health inspector to ensure at least they keep it clean back there.

Tucked away on Newbury Street, Thai Basil is one of my favorite Thai restaurants in Boston and they never disappoint! Their crispy pad thai is one of the best around and their tropical noodle dish is great too. I work in Copley and I look forward to the occasional break to run and grab my takeout and I've never walked back with cold food. It stays piping hot.

Thai Basil has the worst service and mediocre food at best. The food was delivered 1 hr and 15 mins after the order was placed and the food was cold and smelled like it wasn't fresh. Later when I checked my statement, the restaurant charged us more from the total I signed for when the food arrived. When I called the restaurant, the lady on the phone hung up on us twice! The people who run this place are shady. Ordering from Thai Basil was a horrible experience that pretty much ruined my night. If you are looking for an enjoyable evening, stay away!

Thai Basil looks like a hole in the wall restaurant when you're passing it (it's basement level), but it's surprisingly decent inside. There are a few Thai restaurants in and around Newbury/Boylston and Thai Basil is about $2 cheaper per dish than the other restaurants. The tom khar gai soup is delicious. The green curry is just okay. The pad thai is also just okay. I like their pad see ew, but the chef neglected to cool the noodles before mixing it with the sauce so a lot of my noodles clung together. Anyway, I think this is a solid choice. They have sit-down, but it's probably a better take-out place.

the waitresses were VERY RUDE the lady got our order wrong and when we tried to point it out she started screaming at us and said they didn't care if we never showed up again.. HORRIBLE HORRIBLE service.. plus when i tried to explain that its rude to scream and that the no.1 rule of business is customers are always right she said no they're not in this rest. we are! can you imagine? i wouldnt recommend it to anyone.. even the food has become less good than it used to..nothing special at all about this place..horrible expererience.. never again!

Food is good for the price, but the staff needs to be trained to respect the customers. I ordered seafood noodles, and found pieces of beef in it. I do not eat meat, specially beef. I complained about it to three different people and finally they got me a new dish. When I was leaving, the waiter told me "" Good bye - Seafood"", which I found to be very rude. And it shows that they dont respect other cultures and religions. I will not eat there again.

This place has an awesome location, great to stop on newbury st. The food was pretty decent thai, nothing spectacular. Ambience- nothing special. The main plus is that it was very cheap ( at least for lunch) and portions are good. But, they wanted to take our order the second we sat down, really annoying because the restaurant was not even close to full yet.
