I have moved to boston a couple of months ago and did not really know where to go for a haircut in town. I asked a friend and they recommended shimon salon to me, I called and booked an appointment on the same day with kayla.
I was surprised by the quality of the service, the haircut was one of the best I have had in a while (I was surprised to be honest). Everyone was friendly and kayla is very easy to communicate to. I would recommend her to any of my friends.

I went in with my girlfriend because she wanted to dye her hair, and i thought that maybe while i was there I'd get a cut. They worked me into their full schedule, and I told Kayla to give me whatever she thought would look good.
Kayla knows what's up. Without a doubt the best haircut I've ever had.
Go to Shimon Salon, ask for Kayla.

So as a male business consultant for a big-5 firm in my late 30's, ""shaggy"" isn't the look I seek. However, Dave V is good enough that I have delayed 6-7 weeks beyond ""I need a haircut"" time just so that the next time I'm in town (home is 500miles away), he can get the job done. Dave V is awesome! Kind, meticulous, interesting, and collaborative. Tip well and remind old man Shimon to keep him around so that he doesn't leave! -Robert, the guy with the GT-R

There is a great stylist at Shimon's named Kayla, and she has been styling and cutting my hair for many years. I can trust her to do whatever she desires with my hair and I always love it! I moved away from the Mass area for a while and couldn't find anyone that could cut my hair like her. She is very talented and can really meet anyone's hair needs. I would highly recommend her!

This hair salon is of the utmost quality. One of its greatest possessions in an outstanding hairstylist named Kayla Goldstein! This young lady has been employed by Shimon for 7 months. The work she produces is unlike most other average hairdressers. She puts so much care and passion into her work and also makes her job fun!! She recently dyed the hair of a friend of mine. She dyed it black and at first everyone was unsure of how black would look on my friend. After Kayla was able to work on it, it came out perfect. Kayla did an absolutely superb job!!! Anyone would definitely be lucky to have Kayla Goldstein style, cut, color, anything!! I give my full recommendation!!!

Having just moved to Boston from California, I needed someone to take over where my much loved stylist/colorist left off. I was nervous. Not knowing anyone here, I went to Yelp (sorry Citysearch!) and found Shimon Salon. I stopped by to check it out and was greeted by a very friendly and helpful staff that gave me a consultation on the spot.
3 months later, and I couldn't be happier with my cut, color, highlights, and eyebrows (they do threading too)!
Wonderful place, everyone I see there looks amazing -- so happy to have found them on my first try at a Boston salon. Also, they use Bumble and Bumble and Kerastase, my fav products.
Merci Shimon Salon, See you soon! xx

I have been getting my hair cut and highlighted by Shimon for over three years and he's the best!! I moved to Manhattan during this time and traveled back to Boston to have my hair done by Shimon. I have really thick hair and his cut is amazing. His highlights are thin and so natural looking. The products the salon offers are the best quality and your hair feels so healthy after a visit.

While visiting Boston, I was horrified to discover that the humidity (I live in the desert southwest) only confirmed that I had recently endured just an awful haircut. My hair looked simply a mess...I fortuitously found the salon as it was near my hotel and decided to see I could squeeze in...thankfully, Dave Vilinsky was available, and proceeded to work his magic. Needless to say, although he had a mess to deal with, I left the salon with the best hair I have ever known. Literally improved my posture. Dave is not only a talented professional, but patient and kind. I am only saddened that I would have to travel back to Boston for such wonderful service. I cannot recommend Dave, nor the Salon Shimon enough.

I have my hair cut here by Davy Vilinsky. He is the only person who has cut my hair here, so I cannot speak for anyone else that cuts hair here. However, the place is centrally located near Park and Bolyston T stops. It is easy to find. The space is clean, professional, and has welcoming atmosphere.
Davy greets me with a smile every time and inquires as to what I am looking for in a hair style. I must admit I'm not much help here. I just say ""I like it short. Do what you think looks best."" Not much help, huh? Well he does a great job. Tells me exactly what he thinks would looks best and executes a fantastic haircut. He also made some suggestions on hair products.
I avoid hair products. That is because, in the morning, I am like a mentally impaired sloth doing the backstroke in molasses. All I can do is shower, iron my shirt, and get in my car for work. However, Davy suggested some excellent products that look great and suggested quick ways to use them when I am in my morning stupor. The products also do not make my hair look like I am from the cast of Grease or I have a Vaseline pompadour
So, if you are a guy like me who likes to look sharp, but gives vague instructions to your hairdresser and is inept at using hair products (but secretly wants to experiment with them) and appreciates a kind personality and a warm smile...well then..Davy is your man. Call him up.

Located just around the corner from Sports Club LA the Salon is easy to get to by car or Boylston T-Stop. Shimon does great color, simple elegant cuts, and the piece de resistance has been and always will be how smooth he gets your hair. You frizzy haired gals know just what I am talking about. It looks like glass with just a little bounce - no damaging straight iron required.
Plan a night out on the town to conincide with your visit. Be careful, it's addictive, before you know it you'll be visiting 3 times a week! Cameras get ready....a star is about to be born.

I heard about Shimon from a friend and decided to try them after I moved back from NY and needed a new salon. I was really pleased with my cut and color! I have hard-to-manage hair and my new cut is so easy to work with and looks great. The stylists were friendly and the salon itself was very clean. I will definitely be back!

this was the worst hair cut I've ever had. I felt like she just took her scissors and was cutting all over the place and didn't know what she was doing. she seemed as if she was in a rush. she kept using all these products in my hair trying to get me to buy them. i think she should be in sales rather than a hair stylist. i paid $70 for nothing which is horrible i could have done a better job myself.

I have been looking for a good hairstylist for a long time. I live by Shimon's salon, so one day I made a appointment where I met this wonderfully talented stylist, her name was Souad. Souad gave me a beautiful haircut. IT was a great expereince. She even advised me on how to self-blowdry and which products I should use. I loved every minute of it !! I reccomend Souad to anyone who has difficulty finding a stylist because she really listened to me. She did wonders to my hair, because my hair is tough to manage.

I tried to make an appt to see Julie. I was told she wasn't there, but Shimon himself said that he would do my hair for the same price that Julie charged (I get partial highlights and a trim), I didn't want to try it, but I was overdue, and I didn't know where else to go. He did a horrible job! He was really messy with the highlights, leaving huge blond dots all over my head. I ended up going somewhere else where they had to highlight and lowlight every strand of my hair to fix the horrible mess he had made. It took them hours to fix!
ps - while there I heard that Julie moved to NH with her boyfriend - if anyone finds her, let me know.

I use to see Julie and was very sad to see her go and also nervous to try anybody else BUT since the location is so convenient for me I decided to try someone new in the salon.
I tried Erika for cut & color and she did an amazing job! She took her time w/ me and really listened to my needs. So I?m back and loving my hair!
Thank You Erika!
