Established in 1973, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center is a nonprofit health care institution that provides patient care, biomedical research, teaching and community services. The center offers a variety of medical services, such as diabetes treatment, cardiology, podiatric and eye care, pregnancy and pancreatic transplantation services. It also offers several surgical services, including general, cardiovascular, thoracic, gastrointestinal, solid organ transplant and vascular surgeries. The facility provides an on-site centralized educational facility, a computer laboratory and a variety of educational resources. In addition, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center provides clinical education to students in nursing, social work, radiologic technology, ultrasound and nuclear medicine, and physical, occupational, speech and respiratory therapies.
