I feel that although this restaurant offers good food, I also prefer some value. We went with a large group of about 20 and the restaurant suggested we do the family share menu. Even though we were a large group and the family share is offered to 4 or more guests, the restaurant would not allow some additional choices from the fixed menu. It's difficult for 20 to agree on 4 dinner items. This was minor issue although I thought some flexibility could have been offered for such a large group. My biggest issue is that the food came out and you would think there would be enough for everyone but there wasn't. We paid full price for appetizers, dinner and dessert per person. Every part of the meal that I would have preferred was gone before the plate came to me. I had to ask for Calamari and it took 20 minutes for a new plate to come. Everyone was done eating appetizers by this time. I later found out my daughter had also asked for more Calamari and she never received more as the Calamari that finally came to my end was passed down and gone before he received any. Of course when dinner came, the only course I wanted was the linguni and clams and of course when the bowl came to me, there was no pasta and about 3 clams. Again, 30 minutes later, another bowl was delivered. My dinner experience was not enjoyable and I repeatedly told the staff that I had no food to eat but it still took 20-30 minutes to get more food. Of course when the bill came, our share was $180 for 3 to eat. Unbelievable. I would never choose the meal share again, what a ripoff.

I can't get over how delicious our food at Maggiano's was. We got the mussels, some salmon, lasagna and garlic sticks as an appetizer. Wow-eee! The portions are huge, and we could order a whole 'nother dish and then just take it home. We had meals set for the whole weekend after our night out here. Our waitress was extremely helpful and friendly, and catered to our every need, and didn't give us strange looks when we would ask her to wrap up whole dishes for take-home.

I used to love Maggianos. Especially for a large group, it is still an excellent restaurant to go to. They have an all you can eat option which is really great (and easy on the wallet too). However, over the years I have seen a decrease in the quality of their food. Don't get me wrong though, I will still stop by for some fried mozzerella!

Went there on a Sunday evening and there was no wait at all. The place was crowded but we still got excellent service. The waiter was very helpful and nice and met any requests we had. And there was another waiter who always made sure our waters were refilled and that there was bread on the table. I was pretty impressed by the quick and efficient service. I ordered the clams and pasta. It was good but I've had better so I dont think I would recommend it too much. I also tried the salmon with crab and it was excellent! We all ordered half portions which were huge but still fairly priced. The ambiance of the place was nice too which is suprising for a good price restaurant.

cute place for couples or family/friends event. had a good pasta (clam linguine w/red sauce) and some family meal items (chicken piccata). tiramisu is on par, but since my sis and mom both know how to make it, i'm not finding this much more superb than theirs. coffee is not what i had in italy, a bit disappointed on that.
always--ALWAYS--packed at meal time. even at reservations, you end up waiting. what's up with that?

Huge portions and great prices. You really must ask your wait staff for recommendations. Most of the meals on the menu are incredible but there are a few items that are just average. Pasta does not come with the meat dishes but with the portion sizes you really do not need all that food ( It is enough for 2-3 people). But if you must then it is still worth the $2.95 extra to add on to the meal. Reservations a must. Great place to bring large groups

I recommend doing a double date because you need a minimum of 4 people to do a family style dinner. The food is excellent for both quantity AND quality. The downside is that word is out about this place - and if you just try to walk-in, expect a 1-2 hour wait. Reserve in advance!

This place is just plain average as far as the food goes and then factor in crowds so dense you cannot get to the host for questions and I wager a guess that people who love this place don't venture out much. Magianno's is also listed as romantic, sure if you like uproarious crowds and crying children in a Cheesecake Factory packed layout. I ordered chicken parmesan (which was good but not great) and it did not come with pasta, which was extra. Now doesn't the dish 'chicken pram' entail pasta? I had a margarita that tasted like a four year old made it and then switched to a black and tan when the migraine from all the sugar landed. They only have three beers on tap and Guinness and Bass being present, I figured that route would be a sure bet. My beer arrived looking like a Bass with a three inch foamy head - almost no Guinness present. Our waiter (when he showed up) looked to be too bothered elsewhere to be of use. If you are looking for this kind of place go to Vinny T's where everything is better, including the bread which at Magianno's tastes like thicker Wonder bread. They also use low grade olive oil and pre-grated parmesan cheese ? this is little Italy? Please.

I have been to Maggiano's a number of times, and have never been disappointed. I most recently went with a party of 8, and although we had reservations, we did wait about a half hour to be seated; but after that, the service was great. The place is huge, one of the few Italian restaurants in the city that can accommodate large groups, and the food is delicious! I definitely recommend the half-portion sizes, as the regular portions are HUGE (the half-portion is large enough for 2 meals for me). The eggplant parm is my favorite!

I work for a financial corporation, I was in charge of a large party of international investors, I want to keep the evening somewhat casual, and Maggianos was recommended. The service was marginal (servers unaware of wine service , food knowledge etc.), and the food I would rate as fair. We waited for almost and hour to be seated, after booking the reservation well in advance. All in all it was not a pleasant experience.

But my mom was a horrible cook....and not italian. This is such ordinary food, it blows my mind that anyone in good conscience could call it ""one of their favorties"" or ""outstanding."" Portions are big but what's the point? Is a lot of slop better than a little slop? Again, it's not horrible...just really average, and not worth the fuss (parking, noise, crowds)

We just went to dinner and found the experience excellent. Our waiter Drew was a pleasure to have waiting on our table. He was very helpful in recommending many of the excellent selections they offer. Our group thought that the service, food and portions were excellent. It is an excellent place to dine in the Boston area. I would recommend this to everyone.

Great for easy group gatherings. Portions HUGE, reasonably priced meals. Lg Bar waiting area. Big, lively, open spaces fun...but not so loud that you can't have a conversation. One problem, horrible service. We were running 10 min late for reservation. Called and were told they would hold reservation for 15 min, but could not guarantee a table beyond that time frame. RAN over, arrived 5 min after our reservation, waited 25 min to be seated. Rushed and confusing menu intro. Wrong food delivered, although they insisted that the food was our order. Then angrily asked what we ordered and found that they did indeed have half of order but had forced wrong plates upon other members of our party. Server told one person they ordered incorrectly and mix up was their fault. After dishing out the blame waitress did, however, offer to get correct meal...and was brought over within minutes.

Had reservation for dinner. Stood in front of the hostess for about 3 minutes where she never picked her head up to acknowledge me until I had to excuse myself. After being seated, the waitress handed us menu's and asked us if we would like to start of with an appetizer or salad. We looked down at the menu to glance quickly as we had not had time to look at the menu only to hear the waitress chime in with a sarcastic ""Uuhhh, hellloooo"". The food was wonderful, the portions large enough to share. Would have gone back in a heartbeat for the food but will seriously debate ever returning to be berated by the staff.

My mother's wedding was to be held in Boston Common at noon. There happened to be a parade that no one knew about that day. After tons of confusion and street closings it was decided last minute to hold the ceremony at Maggiano's. They were completely understanding and accomodating. The service was unparrelled! I would totally recomend this restaurant to anyone as a night out or a great place to hold a function. The food was wonderful and it's beautiful inside.

First off to those who complain about the wait....make reservations in advance. Problem solved. It is a busy restaurant; do not expect to waltz in during peak times with no reservation and get a table. For what its' worth, you can make reservations up to 2 months in advance. The good: gnocchi melts in your mouth, and the lasagna (with meat sauce) is THE BEST I have ever had. Bar none. The prices were very reasonable and the chocolate zuccotto cake, if you have room, is a must for chocoholics. We arrived a couple minutes before our reservation (9:45 p.m.) and were seated right away, and ordered promptly. We also did not wait long at all for the food, even though the restaurant was packed. All in all....I can't wait to go back, and already have reservations for July.

This is a regular restaurant. The food doesnt gives the italian feeling and the ambient is most grey. The food wasn't bad but I don't think that I'll be back next time. Anyway, it looks like daily meal restaurant and certainly not for special occasions.

My friend and I went there for dinner on a sunday night and right from the start the service was terrible. We arrived and were told it would be 40 minutes before we could get a table. So we put our name in and left. When we came back 30 minutes later we were told it would be 45 minutes even with our name already in. There were many tables empty and the hostess was so incredibly snotty and condescending that we decided to go else where. Why stay at a place that gives you poor service before you even get in the door.
