I'm from the south, so of course the BBQ would not be to my standards. However, it's not bad. The rice and chicken tenders are very flavorful. The biscuits with the sweet cinnamon butter was different, but in a good way. I may come back just for those 3 items...they are worth the it. This is not very expensive like some places. I cannot forget to mention....customer service from Jorell's at the register is fantastic. He gave me a sample of the pulled pork before I purchased just to see if I liked it considering it would be a different taste than what I'm used to. and I did encounter an issue with the cook of the fried bone in chicken, but he was very apologetic and offered to re-cook it or made a suggestion for me to get the chicken tenders. I can't say that the others have the same level of customer service, because you could see the attitude all over their faces and hear it in their voices when I showed them that the fried chicken was undercooked. All in all a good place with the Potential to be considered one of Boston's hidden gems.
Coming to the city for a show from out of state, I was looking for a nice Mexican restaurant for dinner. After seeing the menu online, I tried to book a table for a Saturday night, but one was not available. On the drive in that afternoon, we called just to see how long a wait it would be, and were able to book a table for 7:30, exactly what I had tried to do online three days previously. Why have the online booking function if it doesn't work?We arrived 15 minutes late - no problem! There were several empty tables - we appeared to be the only diners. We were handed one-page menus that listed the simplest items from the online menu: some appetizers, salads, sandwiches, etc. Typical bar food, which is fine, but from their website, you get a very different impression. We ordered two alcohol drinks and two non alcohol drinks, nachos with a few bits of steak on top - delicious but a little pricey for an app, a burger, two BLTs and fish tacos, all with fries (good, not great). The food was ok - a step above the usual, but not especially noteworthy. There were no desserts or coffee offered. The bill? $108.35; with a tip, close to $125! To eat ok sandwiches in a bar!Compared to the website, this is a classic case of bait and switch. And the reality, at this price, is not worth it. Sorry, I won't be back.
