I wish I could say that my experience with J. Bennett Realty was a good one, but aside from a promising opening phone conversation, the next several days were an exercise in frustration.I’d been looking to buy a home in New Mexico, and found one listed online that appeared worth a visit, so I phoned the listing agent, Jason Bennett, and let him know I’d like to see the house. He indicated that the property was quite a long drive from his office, so later that day he would email me the code info necessary for me to have access to the inside of the home. My current residence is significantly further from the property than Jason's office is, so I began preparing plans to make the trip. I gave him my email address and phone number, expecting to hear from him by the end of the day. When the next morning had passed with no contact from Jason, I called him and spoke with him again. He assured me he would email the info that day. We verified my contact info to make sure he had everything correct. Then two days went by with still no contact from Jason. So I called him again, but could only reach his voice mail, on which I left a message indicating I had not received the requested info. No response. So I called again… and again. Still no response. So I went to Jason’s website and submitted a formal request for more info on the property. Still nothing, except now I began receiving regular generic soliciting emails from J. Bennett Realty. In the meantime, I had missed my window of opportunity to make the trip to visit the property.A couple of weeks later, I noticed that the property had sold. So I responded to one of Jason’s soliciting emails letting him know I was very disappointed with his lack of professionalism in the matter. Within minutes he responded, claiming he had emailed me the info and that the property went under contract shortly after that (although he would not tell me when), and that he never heard from me again. I told him I left messages for him and contacted him through his website, but he outright denied receiving any of it, and actually had the nerve to say, “it is what it is.” What it was, actually, was a lot of wasted time and effort on my part, as well as the loss of opportunity to see the home and possibly make an offer.Needless to say, I’ve found another agent in the area to assist me in my search, and I definitely would NOT recommend contacting J. Bennett Realty.
