So I realize this is drastically different from the other reviews here and that's because after reading the previous reviews my experience with Charter Cable and their branch office in Boone was drastically different. The phone call was handled by a native english speaker. He answered my questions with concise info and very pleasantly. He looked up info on my local branch so that I could take care of my upgrade to HD. From the information he gave me, I went to my local office about a half hour before closing time. The wait time was minimal, the lady who helped me behind the desk was fantastic and got me going out the door with a smile in about five minutes. I was expecting a nightmare and instead got a great customer experience. So Charter must be listening to its customers because the experience has changed dramatically.
Located in Beech Mountain, service works fine. My only problem, which is a major problem is that there is no local phone number to contact, you will be speaking with a 1-800 # that the customer service is very rude and informative as well as being promised upon service installation my line would be buried within 15 days, however it took over 2 months and I was fined by my HOA. During the 2 months it took to bury the line I spoke with customer service several times and was also "promised" that I was on the list for expedited service line burial, knowingly there is no such thing as expedited service list with Charter.
Avoid at all cost. Service regularly goes out without explanation, DVR records wrong programs or doesn't record at all, bills change without notice. On several occasions service has been cut while trying to disconnect another customer this problem took weeks to fix and no refund was given for service lost. Try AT&T U verse or even direct tv before you ever go to charter. Terrible service, terrible company, I only wish I could give negative stars in a review.
We have had Charter internet service at our Sugar Mountain home for six years. Their cable modems failed regularly and had to be replaced every 12 months, until we finally bought a dependable model from Office Depot. We pay $49/ month for their internet service and the speed (measured using Charter's online speed test) is typically an acceptable 10 MBPS download and 2 MBPS upload. That speed, however, fluctuates widely and sometimes drops to levels as low as .8 MBPS download and .03 MBPS upload for several hours at a time, making it impossible to send an email message. We have AT&T's hi-speed internet service at our other home and it has proven to be very dependable and consistent.
Wow, when you won't give out your local phone numbers to your customers and instead make them call the Philippines, or if you get upset when someone gets your local number, I would say this is a company that does not care about its customers and we should stay far, far away and give our business to a local company with local numbers where the supervisors do not hide their heads in the sand and pretend that their business is not going down the tubes. This company stinks in any town, including Charter in Boone, NC. Keep hiding your heads in the sand charter and watch your business go bye-bye! Another one bites the dust. Just look at their stock ratings! YIKES! Run!
Do not waste your time with a company that bases its customer support out of the Philippines. Charter communications is dying a slow death and the company in Boone is an example of once you lose your customer care and support at the local level, you stand as a company that does not care about its customers. Support American workers and stay away from this Charter division in Boone and in any location.
The group in Boone is really one of the worst. Find a better cable and internet provider!
I want to warn anyone thinking about signing up with Charter Cable, Internet or any other services they provide. They could care less about you the customer!
If you have a problem they will not give you the name and office number of a local supervisor to talk to even if they have damaged your property and cut your phone lines! Even if you are 88 years old and depend on your phone due to health risks.
Their workers will damage your property and leave their cables, cut wires, and unburied cable behind. THey will not bury lines they leave out on your property for months, and you have to complain LOUDLY to get help.
Why do you have to complain LOUDLY? THeir tech support and the people you complain to are located in the PHILIPINES! We need to support the USA and her workers by NOT CHOOSING CHarter of Boone or Hickory or anywhere in the USA. CHARTER supports slave labor in the Philipines. THeir tech support is awful.
SAVE the USA and stay away from anything Charter has to offer!
By the way I got the number of a person in the BOONE, NC office and they were MAD that I got their number and demanded to know how I got it! The Boone group is CLUELESS about customer service.
