The wonderful woman at the front desk spent hours trying to find the best deal on tires she could and they didn’t charge extra for mounting the tires. Do not take your vehicle here if you don’t want to get ripped off. They tried to suddenly up their prices by over $100 when we came in to pay. Pretty sure just because I’m a woman the owner tried to argue with me and demean me while I was sticking up for them lying straight to my face about prices. He told me several times that the part was $47 and the labor was $55, then handed me an invoice with the part being $130 and the labor being $80, then spent time interrupting me and was getting angry with me for standing up for myself and calling out his lies. He got so tripped up with me questioning him that he finally declared “whatever we’ll take the loss”......... DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR VEHICLE TO WORK ON. THEY WILL TRY TO GET ONE OVER ON YOU.
I've been using this shop since 2012 and have always been impressed with the quality of service, the price, and the honesty of the technicians.
I would not recommend this shop to anyone and would further encourage anyone seeking to do business with them to look elsewhere. I filed complaints with the Better Business Bureau and AAA stating the same.My sons pickup was leaking antifreeze from around the base of the timing cover. To play told the truck and recommended shop. Based on their recommendation, Boone Tire Center replaced the timing cover gasket. When my son went to pick up the truck, he started it up only to find that there was now a severe grinding noise coming from the timing chain area of the engine. When he asked the mechanic to take a look and explained to him that that noise was new and was not there when the truck arrived there, he was told that it was the alternator going bad. My son then replaced the alternator and the noise persisted. My son took the truck back to Boone Tire center and asked them to again take a look. They then claimed that the grinding noise was actually a ticking noise coming from the fuel pump. My son stated that the noise wasn't coming from the fuel pump and the mechanics became belligerent, insisting that nothing they did could make that noise. I spoke to the owner myself, who told me that we should take our business elsewhere if we didn't believe him and that he would not look at the truck anymore. My son immediately took the truck to another mechanic who listened to it for five seconds and said something was rubbing against the timing chain.Since I live a few hours away. My son had taken videos of the engine running immediately prior to the repair, immediately after the repair, and after the alternator had been replaced and sent it to me for advice. The noise is conspicuously absent in the first video and obviously present in both of the latter videos. The mechanic then claimed he could hear no noise whatsoever.
We have gone to Swedish Werke a number of times from the original owner to current day. We hoped the new owner would be more accomodating and he seemed to be in the beginning however, we have had some issues. Three years ago we took a Disco II in with a vibration in the front end. We were told it was a bad front differential - cost $2000+ to repair. We took it home and I crawled under to find a deteriorated UJoint in the front propellor shaft - $150 later it is repaired by someone else no problem. (1st misdiagnosis) Last year we acquired another Disco II that was running rough. Diagnosis bad airflow meter - result bought the part installed Not the problem! Turns out is was a clogged catalytic converter! (2nd misdiagnosis) Last June 2015 - they had a Disco II on the lot with no engine - I wanted the Rover for parts and we agreed on a price of $800. I paid $200 down before leaving for school in July. Upon my return cash strapped I offered to work for $10 an hour to tear down other Rovers they wanted to part out and sell online. I was turned down. I remained in touch several times thru the year as I still wanted the Rover body but remained tight on cash. Recently I got the money together and drove by the shop on a Sunday afternoon - the rear bumper was gone off the Rover. I called and left a message - never heard back. Drove over 2 days later and the entire vehicle was gone. The owners reason - was he wanted it gone! Cool.. .I have no problem with that - then why didn't you call me - He had my phone #, he had multiple cards, we have messaged on Facebook! I asked for my $200 back and he told me it was a storage fee... presumably he got more from someone else for the Rover shell ...so I got shafted! I called my attorney and was told they do a lot of business with me. Red Flag! BEWARE - if you do business with these folks get everything in writing, specific details on everything or be prepared to get ripped off!
