I have never had a bad dish from here. The building is kind of scruffy looking but don't let that fool you. The Chicken Teriyaki Bowl is my favorite food from anywhere
Over a decade ago, before sushi became trendy, Shige's was the epitome of authenticity combined with his own personal culinary flair. Today, he has…
Awesome grub. Great price.
Well let’s see…walk in the door, right away the waiter says “No more all you can eat, we are closing early.” It is 9:15 PM on a Saturday, they claim to be open until 10. Ok fine, my party agreed to just order off the menu. So on top of not feeling welcomed at all, he told us we can only order once. Fine. Waters not refilled and the waiter actually comes back and says we are eating too slow. Awesome. Food’s great but service is a joke. We leave a $.01 tip and when we leave, the waiter runs to an ear shoot of my party and says, “B***h.”
Kyoto has the best of the best. The filet mignon is amazing, the sushi is great, the service is really good, the chefs are entertaining, and the ambiance is inviting. It's my favorite place for both steak and sushi. I highly recommend the royal dinner for two, which comes with two skewers of vegetables, seafood, and beef as an appetizer, soup and a small salad, fried rice, awesome veggies, generous portions of shrimp, chicken, and filet mignon, and for dessert ice cream with chocolate and coconut. It's seriously delicious and so worth $19.50 per person. I go there and order it for us any time I feel like celebrating, and I've never been disappointed. The sushi is very reasonably priced too... the rolls are 3.99 and up and very tasty. They are a bit more Americanized than some places (read: cream cheese, lots of sauces, etc.) but they have some more traditional things too. If you come in, you might see me there because I love it so much I'm there as often as possible! Also, try to make reservations if you want to go on a weekend. They can get very busy and it's not a huge place. Just writing this is making my mouth water, so I think I'll go tonight!
I've been to Ichiban a few times now and I don't plan on going back. When I go in, (fairly early - usually about 5 on a Friday) the employees are watching TV and very slow and unhelpful. My water glass sat empty for the majority of my visits. The last time I ate there, my the avocado in my roll was COMPLETELY brown, all the way through. I can't believe anyone who can see would serve food like that. The sushi may be cheap, but they have no standards.
