I had a cataract surgery a year ago and now I look forward to a second surgery to remove a giant spider-like "floater." I got an infected cornea, scaring, a quarter moon shadow on outer side of eye and 6 months of pain that kept me awake nights to the point wher I now continue that sleep disorder. A simple, "I'm so sorry" would have been nice, but he took no resposibility for anything. He blamed me for everything except his inability to diagnose Ocular Rosacea. Last but not least, my pain went away when he hired a second opthomologist, Dr Barret, who said I had Ocular Rosacea (not seen by Hollingshead or Dr Besecker [optomitrist in charge of my care.]) For 6 months I suffered and wore an eye patch when an antibiotic ointment would have mitigated that part of my failed cataract removal. I've had facial Rosacea pustules for 30 years and had no knowledge I had "dry eye" until my eyes turned pink after my initial visit. Next I had to spend $1,500+ in unanticipated medicine co-pays. Don't believe short, good reviews. I think they're "plants." I overheard others in the waiting room who had "this never happens" surgery results.
Maple Grove Eye Clinic has had a large change in staff recently. Therefore, the existing reviews of this facility thankfully no longer apply. Maple Grove Eye Clinic has recently hired a completely new staff for its front office. It is unfortunate that the experiences described by previous reviewers were so negative. I can assure you that the new staff that will greet you if you return to MGEC will change your perception as they are friendly, respectful, understanding, and always put the patient first.
DO NOT SEE THIS DOCTOR.I have wasted so much time at this clinic and I'm out $119 and nothing to show for it.1. Make lots of time in your schedule for this!I made an appointment for an eye exam and contacts. My appointment was for 10:45 am. It was nearly noon when the optometrist finally came in to see me and when you add in the time with him, I spent about 2.5 hours there.2. Get ready to be treated badly!In the meantime, I was treated very rudely by every person I had to interact with. From the woman who checked me in, to the man who assists the doctor with the exam, the woman who orders the contacts, and the ladies who make the appointments. Every single person there is short, unfriendly, and condescending. It is unbelievable.3. Get ready to go back over and over again.When my contacts finally came in, I had to make an appointment to pick them up, which translates to MORE WAITING in the lobby, and in the chair. This second appointment also took a couple of hours just to be seen. The best part is the prescription was no good. Which meant, you guessed it, they wanted me to make another appointment. At this rate, there is no telling how much of MY time they are willing to waste.In the end, after suffering through a second pair of contacts that neither fit, nor corrected my vision, I have elected to find another doctor. I called the Maple Grove Clinic and let them know how terribly unhappy I am. Their response was uncaring. I asked about a refund, but their response was immediate talk about collections. There's that rudeness I was telling you about.To finalize my unhappiness with this group of good for nothings, I was told that if my prescription was not good, it was my fault, not theirs.Lovely.You've been warned.
