All it takes is a little preparation to get your car winter-ready and to keep from getting into an icy situation.
It’s time to bring long sleeves and long pants out of storage, prep your home and car, and contact the cool weather home/yard contractors.
This review has been more than two years in the making and is long overdue. I was first referred to Velocity Factor from a friend in 2010 when I moved to Boca Raton to attend graduate school at FAU. I had some unfortunate cosmetic damage to my front bumper, side skirts, and passenger side rear door. I love my car as I consider it an extension of myself, so I made sure my friend knew I would not let just any body shop or mechanic handle the vehicle. He assured me Felipe (owner) was the best in the business and need not worry. Sure enough, he was right. My first experience with Velocity Factor was beyond incredible. Being raised in West Virginia has jaded me in terms of exposure to genuine benevolence and true hospitality. Such qualities can be difficult to find in South Florida, but through detailed conversations with Felipe and the rest of the Velocity Factor staff I believed they truly cared about my car and wanted to restore it to the best of their ability. Perfection is the only word that can describe the appearance of my car after the work was complete. No bubbles in the paint, perfectly blended, all scratches completely removed and untraceable, and no glimpse “fish eyes” when looking at the long angles of the car. At this moment, I knew I had found my new car shop. Many oil changes and minor upgrades later, for both mine and my sister’s car, I was put in yet another unfortunate situation. I was run off the on-ramp to 95 by a drunk driver at a speed of 50mph. I was able to dodge all guard rails, but it resulted in my car smashing head on into a curb, blowing all the tires, destroying my wheels and wreaking havoc on my suspension. I had my car immediately towed to Velocity Factor and Felipe began doing what he does best. Through the entire process, I received updates about my car as well as full disclosure regarding which parts would be ordered and where the best deals could be found. Velocity Factor did an amazing job working hand in hand with State Farm Insurance to make sure my car would once again deserve the accolade of perfection. I chose to stick with the factory suspension parts, but upgraded my wheels, tires, and rotors. The car came out even better than when I first purchased it new from the dealership. It handled like a dream and I can never thank the Velocity Factor team enough for the complete rebuild of my suspension. To this day, I will always go to Felipe and his staff because I know my car is more than safe in their hands.Brandon Anderson2008 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X GSR2004 Mazda RX-8 Mazdaspeed (sister’s car)
I would have to say the best shop I have dealt with yet! They really know their stuff when it comes to racing, handling, performance, and they all have a good taste in what looks good either on the car or under the hood! They are very passionate about racing and it shows in their work! They are always finding the new awesome products to make more power and keep my car looking good! Couldn't ask for much more!I am currently deployed to Afghanistan and the whole crew continues to stay in touch and keep me updated on new parts. My family still deals with the shop and brings my car to the shop for continuous work and maintenance. They always get me good deals on products and always show real enthusiasm for working on cars. They always send me pictures of my car when they are working on it and always treated my parents with respect when ever they brought the car in for more work. They are like family to me as well. They always give their honest opinion and expert advise and that has yet to fail me. This is the second car they have worked on for me, and know who i will be going to for future cars. I can always call and just ask general questions about anything from parts, car events, tunes, they know it all!All my friends who i have referred there always had a good experience. They as well, always go back for more!Overall the shop is a friendly enviorment, good show/waiting room, great products, and a lot of knowledge behind those VFR uniforms they wear! All i can say is good job Velocity Factor and keep it up! You will be seeing me soon for a big build! You know I'm talking about!
I recently moved to Boca, and I was lucky to find these people, very professional, friendly, and honest. I took the car (Dodge Charger 2008) for an oil change, but they also did a general inspection to see if everything was going well. In fact, that is what I wanted to do too.Everything was exactly done the same as what I had experienced at the Dodge dealer shop in Minnesota:1. I scheduled an appointment,2. I left the shop and they called to report3. Billy called me and told me what was wrong with the car, what needed to be done, and how much exactly was it going to cost.4. I had to decide whether I want to authorize the new parts and repairs. NO PUSH.5. I agreed, and Conrad told me to pickup the car one day after that.6. I picked up the car, I received a very detailed and itemized bill, explaining all the new parts and the labors separately.7. I did not check other places for price, but the prices were reasonable to me.8. I had minor concerns (Nothing Serious) and took the car back for a follow up. Concerns were fixed without any additional charges (even though it was NOTHING serious and it was not their fault).I highly recommend the Billy, Conrad, and generally the Shores Automotive.By the way, every time I have been there, beautiful classic cars were in the shop for service, which I love.
I have been taking my car to this establishment for over a year. I came across the "good luck" of finding this gem. Joe has taken exceptional car of my car as well as my wife's. I am a AAA member and know how difficult it is to find honest and trustworthy companies here in South Florida. I have been so happy with all the help and "family" warmth that Joe and his staff provides. I had been using another garage for many years and was offered by the AAA guy to take my car here when it broke down. I was offered a 10% member discount AND the reassurance that AAA stands behind them, so why not!?! When I was given my quote it was explained thoroughly and prices seemed fair. All my questions were answered honest and directly. Doing my diligence, I called my previous mechanic and quickly realized that the quote was very fair. Repairs were done and I've been going back ever since, great people. After reading the review below I was compelled to make sure others knew that this is not the kind of service that I've experienced and find it far out of character. I would 100% recommend Boca's Best to any one in the community. They are a great company!
I first met Dino the owner of Colbyco enjoying the water after work on day he told me he as a garage and if I ever need any work done should stop by, before I even ventured I recommend him to friends of mine who went and had work done the first thing they all said was wow what a honest and simply wonderful human he is . He fixed their problems so I decided to stop by I was impress by his knowledge of what he does and how he fixed the issue I had so quickly, I have since taken my truck to him numerous times for different things . I have to point out my truck is my baby and had over 250k miles and one thing Dino said wow your trick engine is so strong sounding for all that miles . I tell everyone I come in contact with about Colbyco and his quality service and very reasonable prices .I would recommend everyone in South Fla if you need a mechanic that knows his craft and will never charge you for something you don't need Please go to Colbyco in Boca Raton Fl
My name is Abubeker Mohammed, the General Manager/ Owner of Abubeker Mohammed Adilo Auto, Parts and Décor Import. Our company, which imports Cars, automotive parts and decor items, mainly from Asia to Ethiopia, for the last five years. Lately I am looking for quality items, wider market opportunities and contacts, elsewhere in the United States. Putting these in mind, we are thinking of attending the 2017 Mid-America Trucking Show being held Thursday, March 23 through Saturday, March 25, 2017 at the Kentucky Exposition Center in Louisville, Kentucky, USA. Hence, I represent the company I own and serve as a General Manager. We believe it helps us to have a great deal of value and get the opportunity to create viable contact with companies in a similar business, which attend or exhibit in the show. Since it is our first attendance to this show we need some tips. Anyone who could help?
This was the first time I have ever taken my car to anywhere but the dealership, and being a younger female I was a little nervous because of horror stories I've hear about auto shops. After reading the reviews below I chose Boca Auto Center, I will never take my Jetta anywhere else. Simon and his mechanics are honest, hard working people. Ended up saving me a lot of money, I would have probably had to sell a kidney just to afford it. Plus I have a Volkswagen and their a pain in the but to work on. I went to Boca Auto driving a car that I felt was going to break down on me at any moment and I left relieved and confident I was driving something reliable again. I give this place 6 stars! Great customer service and his mechanics are easy to talk to, I felt like I learn more about my car every time I go in. Never have I looked forward to getting my car worked on. Great Job Guys :)
Everyone at Boca's Best was fantastic! They helped my family out when my mom's transmission started leaking. We were only visiting in Boca Raton and trying to get back home to Tampa. After a 3 hour stressful ordeal, I came in contact with Boca's Best when they towed the car on a Sunday afternoon. First thing Monday morning, they assessed the leak, referred us to a reputable company to fix the transmission (saved us $200 in the process!), towed our vehicle to that location, gave me a ride to my grandparent's home, fixed other issues that arose the following day and even called me to make sure we got home ok! It is overwhelming to be out of town with such a major vehicle problem. It was such a vulnerable situation and Joe and his staff were amazing to us! I can't thank them enough for their assistance and service and HIGHLY recommend them to anyone! Thanks again Joe!!
I was in Boca Raton Florida on business, November 1 - 4th, 2015. In my travel from Orlando, my car started acting up, leaking anti freeze and misfiring. I met Bill at Last Chance Garage on Sunday, November 1, 2015 (the shop was closed, but he had come by to take care of somethings). I dropped off the car during the week for a day, he tested the entire cooling system for leaks and found none. He had one of his staff take my car overnite to determine any problems when driven for a long distance. >He told me "he is not going to sell me anything I do not need!" The diagnosis was the I had a blown head gasket. He provided excellent service and did not even want to charge for the time spent examining the car. We finally agreed an a very fair price for his time. I highly recommend his garage for honest, professional automotive repair in the Boca Raton area! Jim S.
Julio, the owner of this auto repair shop, has been a long time family friend for ages. I used to go to him when he owned Spanish River Auto Repair. I have to say that when he sold Spanish River Auto Repair it was so hard to find a mechanic that was as good, fair, and reasonable. His hourly labor rate is cheaper than most of the auto repair shops in town. As far as the pricey parts go he is very fair. He gives you an honest inspection of what is wrong with your and won't add on problems that aren't really there like most of the auto repair shops I was going to before he opened his new shop. I almost forgot to mention how fast he fixes up the cars and has them up and running! Overall, I'd give Autobahn a 5 star. VERY nice shop, well kept and clean, very honest and fair with labor rates and part prices as well. You should definitely check it out.
There are more than 700,000 auto service technicians and mechanics in the U.S. Finding the right one to repair a dent in your car door or fix an engine that won't start can be overwhelming, especially when it's an emergency. Review a few important facts about auto repair professionals and what you can do to get the best possible mechanic working on your vehicle's issues for a fair price.
Looking For Reliability
Unlike home repair services that evaluate a property, meet with homeowners and have time to prepare before their physical work begins, auto repair businesses are often asked to make fixes on the spot. If you come into a garage with a tire issue, the expectation is the mechanic will know how to correct that problem quickly.
That is why reliability is so vital when searching for a trusted auto repair shop. It may take going to several different mechanics before you find one you are truly comfortable with. Pose questions to this professional to find out what approach they will take to repair your car or what alternatives are available. Shopping around also gives you the best opportunity to find the cheapest rate or the fastest service, as some garages may be backed up with other vehicles that need repair first.
A recommended way to locate a trustworthy auto repair professional is to seek out customer reviews. Online sites offer honest opinions from real customers who have used a business. Read through this feedback to learn how a business operates and what you can expect if you were to take your vehicle there. Look for reviews about how quick maintenance was completed and if prices were fair. By learning what other people have said about a garage, you can gain a better idea if it's the right place to go when you have a car problem in need of fixing.
It can be difficult to know which automotive problems are serious enough to require expert assistance. A ripped seat cushion or broken radio don't involve safety and will not warrant enough of a problem that going into a garage is required. However, setbacks with brakes, lights and other parts that are vital to the safety of your car's driver and passengers, as well as others on the road, necessitate quick fixes. Many modern automobiles will notify drivers of an issue, in the form of a signal on the dashboard or a noise within the vehicle.
In the event of an accident, even if your vehicle does not appear to have any damage on the outside, it is generally recommended that you see a trusted auto repair professional. Internal damage may have occurred, or an important part may have been knocked out of place. Fixing these issues before driving much further can prevent further vehicle breakdowns in the future. In the case of a serious accident, a body shop can assess the problems and determine the best course of action for repairs, as well as evaluate how much they will cost.
Beyond that, regular checkups are recommended. Tires must be rotated, fluids needs to be replaced and the engine must be evaluated. After driving 25,000 miles, most auto dealers suggest having the vehicle checked out to ensure everything is running smoothly. Taking the car into the auto repair professional you trust will protect you from further problems down the road.
Not every type of auto repair work needs to be done by a certified mechanic. You can fix some of a vehicle's issues just by paying attention to how the automobile is running and having a basic understanding of auto repair. Look over the ways weather may impact your car and what preventative measures you can take to avoid having to take it into the shop. At the same time, be aware of mechanic scams that can impact your experience.
Preventing Trips To The Professional
Some fixes to your car can be done without paying a specialist. Issues like replacing oil and air filters are relatively simple, with instructions provided in the owner's manual on how to make these changes. The same goes for replacing broken windshield wipers or burnt-out headlights. Such issues should be repaired quickly to guarantee safety, but don't require a visit to a garage. By handling these types of tasks on your own, you'll gain a better understanding for how your car operates and save time and money.
Along with understanding how to fix manageable vehicle issues that may arise, taking preventative measures to avoid future problems is a valuable time saver. Many problem-solving best practices are related to the seasons. Your vehicle will be in different conditions in the winter than in the summer, meaning it requires a different type of preparation.
In the spring and summer, you want to be sure your air conditioner and cooling systems work correctly. Given the high temperatures the vehicle will be exposed to, overheating is a common problem. Look over the system by ensuring there is enough coolant available. If it needs to be refilled, it is best to open the hood and add more to the car before it gets too warm out. Also, clean out fan ducts and other ventilation sources necessary for summertime driving.
For winter driving, features such as the defroster, heater and exhaust system are paramount. Look in your owner's manual for specific directions on how features should be checked and repaired. Many newer cars have a cabin air filter that can be replaced when needed, allowing warm air to continue to flow in. Also, check your tires before winter driving, as they need to be at the proper pressure to perform well on snow and ice.
There is a common worry among many people that auto repair professionals take advantage of the general public. Because so many people are unaware of how to fix the problems in their vehicle, they are nervous of being overcharged by mechanics or worried that the improper work is being done.
While the great majority of professionals in the industry are honest, hard-working people, a few bad apples can ruin everything. You should be extra careful when first visiting a mechanic to guarantee that the price you're charged and maintenance the vehicle receives are fair.
Among the common scams pulled are needless repairs, where a garage charges you for work that isn't necessary. Another popular one is attracting customers through a cheap oil change or tire pressure check. Then, when you are in the shop and your car is being repaired, they give you a long list of other corrections they'd like to make, therefore boosting the total cost of your bill.
The best way to combat these types of problems is getting a written estimate before work is done. That way, you can see how much repairs are expected to cost. If the final bill is higher than the estimate projected, ask to specifically see the work. Make sure information is put in writing as well. If a problem remains, you can have proof that work was not done to your satisfaction.
By working closely with an auto repair professional and doing some of the tune-up work on your own, you will be less likely to fall for these scams. At the same time, you'll be able to drive out with a clean and healthy vehicle, thanks to the repairs made by a trained professional.
