I am writing this to bring to your attention the unfair and deceptive practices of the Gosnell Water Association. The complaints for extremely high water bills are continuously on the rise. Amidst these complaints, the Gosnell Water Association has recently installed video surveillance, that too without any warning. There has been no public notice, to tell the people that they are being recorded. Basically, it’s a setup by the company to file harassment charges and to cover up complaints.
I have been a resident of Gosnell for the past 5+ years. I have complained not once, but numerous times about extremely high water bills. Below, is a detailed account of the complaints I made and the ambiguous and unacceptable replies that I got in return.
I made my first complaint (Consumer Complaints-106808) to the Attorney General on Dec 13, 2013 for a whopping $106 water bill. I informed Barbara Pate, that when my landlord read the meter, the numbers were very different. I also told her that my plumbing had been replaced. She sent her workers to reread the meters. Without giving any explanation, one of her co-workers called me to inform me that my bill would be 49$. I wanted to know the source of the problem, the young women couldn’t reply. I told her I would be in her office shortly. Around 2:30PM, I entered the office and asked Barbara Pate the source of the problem with the water bill. Her reply to it was that the new guys read the meter wrong. When I further questioned her, “So they read the meter wrong last month and all the other times I complained?” ,she couldn’t give a definite answer. Instead, she was rude and told me she had adjusted the bill even though she didn’t have to and that her Husband Johnny, was the manager. I felt extremely humiliated.
Again, in May 2015, I received another bill for $92.44 with water consumption of 13320 units. Professional Plumbing has serviced. (Detailed billing and documentation available)
Honestly, I’m tired of the poor customer service, humiliation and disrespect from Barbara Pate. I would also like to bring into notice the nepotism here, on part of Barbara and Johnny Pate. She uses his position to intimidate the consumers .I’m sure all of Gosnell Arkansas Consumers can vouch for the rude antics of Barbara Pate and would label her behavior as unethical and unacceptable.
Also, I would like to correct her here. You do not own the company. Barbara Pate’s husband is the general manager and she's the office manager. They both are employed by The Gosnell Water Association - A Public Service for Consumers!
