A month ago I would have rated Richie's a 5. My wife and I went there and had a great prime rib dinner with good service. Yesterday I went with my daughter and son-in-law bragging about the place. What a difference. The place was about half filled and when they seated us they only had one available menu which we had to share amongst the four of us. How does that happen? We placed our orders at about 7:25 and did not get our main course till 9:00. At about 8:40 the waitress was apologizing for it taking so long telling us that it is being plated now. It took 20 minutes to plate our food? When we did get our meals we were unsatisfied. My giant pork chop ( the special ) was tasty but dried out. My daughters ordered a NY strip steak that the waitress said I don't know why they have that on the menu we don't serve it. She settle for prime rib which she ordered medium and she got one that was extremely well done EXTREMELY. My son-in-law ordered chicken parm which he said was very good. and my wife ordered a shrimp meal which had 4 very large shrimp in a sauce that was just terrible. We never complained about our meal or the long time it took and in the end the waitress took 25% off our bill. Stating she was so sorry for the long wait and thank you for being so patient. She obviously knew we were not happy. The lady in the table next to ours did complain about her food being cold and they reduced her bill by 25% also.Now I am sure that we had two different cooks in our two visit but the one last night needs to get some tips from the other cook. We eat at allot of top notch steakhouse in Chicago ( Gibsons, Ruth Chris,etc.) and Richie's is what it is: an inexpensive restaraunt that serves steak. But there is no excuse for inconsistant product and service. This is a management issue and Richie's has been around to long to not have this figured out. There ratings in yp are from one to five, with description as "excellent food and amp service" to " all around terrible". That should tell them something.
