In February 2012, Tom Willingham was disappointed by service at two different local firearm stores. We all know what good retail shopping experiences look like. Tom wondered why gun shops and shooting ranges seemed to be so different. Everyone should be able to purchase a gun or shoot at an indoor range in an atmosphere that’s fun and educational, with sales staff that are anxious to share their knowledge and experience with shooters of all levels. Seeing few such establishments in place, Tom decided to found his own. Half a year later, in November of 2012, Point Blank Range & GunShop opened its doors for the first time. From that very first store in Cincinnati, Point Blank has created a friendly, welcoming environment, with showrooms that are clean, brightly lit, fully stocked, and well organized—the perfect atmosphere in which to educate and engage with the firearms community. The formula has proven a great success. Hundreds of thousands of customers have flocked to Point Blank’s growing number of locations across the Midwest to get the kind of support that’s been so hard for new and experienced firearm owners and hobbyists to find elsewhere. Point Blank continues to expand its operations, with multiple new stores opening each year, all with the same great selection and high standards, employing over 250 skilled firearms associates and educators. Point Blank has no agenda, except to serve the responsible firearm owner, whatever their background or skill level. Those customers are a diverse group, including men and women of all ages and origins, all of whom deserve the same great retail experience Point Blank provides. Though they purchase firearms, shoot on our ranges, and attend our classes for a number of reasons—protection, recreation, competition—the thing they have in common is a desire to live more confidently. Instilling that confidence is perhaps the most important goal of our Point Blank staff. It begins by answering every question, small or large, with the same knowledgeable, considerate approach. It continues by stressing education and practice as the best ways to gain proficiency and peace of mind with a new firearm. And it concludes by creating as sense of community that lasts long after the sale. We are, first and foremost, enthusiastic supporters of firearms as a hobby. We intend all customers to leave our stores satisfied that their questions were answered, more comfortable with their knowledge and skills, and with a feeling that they are part of a larger network of hobbyists and owners. Membership in that community is simple: be responsible and take full ownership of your firearm, by knowing how to safely fire, clean and store it. Indoor Shooting lanes typically 25 yards long and can accommodate both handgun and long guns (rifle and shotgun). The range equipment is constructed of AR 500 Steel, bullet proof glass and ballistic rubber. The ranges are designed by professional engineers with safety and comfort in mind. The ranges are climate controlled-warm in the winter and cool in the summer! HEPA filtered ventilation systems move the air 75 fpm past the firing line to keep the shooter comfortable and odor free. Range Safety Officers are on staff in our ranges at all times. Every Point Blank retail store is also an education center. All of our locations are wheelchair accessible.
