Joe's Crab Shack USED TO BE my favorite place to eat for years. Anyone who knows me knows that I placed NO other restaurant above Joe's... until my last two experiences. Now, I'll most likely never eat there again. Joe's (apparently ALL Joe's Crab Shacks) did away with their very best steam pots (e.g. my favorite, which was the Samuel Adams Steam Pot and others) and now have only 4 selections. WRONG MOVE and BAD IDEA!!! We visited this Joe's (just outside of Birmingham) on Sunday, May 29, 2016 at 1:00 pm. I ordered the Arctic Bay Steampot. When I ate the lobster tail, it was so mushy I could almost drink it. Worst lobster ever!!! I had to fight the urge to vomit. My wife's salmon was also raw in the middle of it. She enjoyed the edges. I should have complained to the waiter and manager, but we were dealing with my wife's sick dad in the hospital. The ONLY good thing about our visit was the waiter, who was awesome. As such, I do not blame him for this experience.
Landry’s has never been a personal favorite. It feels like the menu changes every time I visit, which isn’t often. Their gumbo is made with a signature burned roux that tastes like overcooked gravy. It’s highly undesirable and the company should consider removing it from the menu. The Fried Seafood Platter was good and appropriately priced. The Gold Burger was good as well. Overall, the experience was lesser than desirable. While both entrees were good, having to ask suggestions multiple times for what should have been simple menu options and then needing additional condiments to make the experience feel okay just makes you want to dine where you know things will be perfect every visit.
Visiting Birmingham on business and my boyfriend and I happened to stumble upon this place. Warm, rustic atmosphere with exposed wooden beams and brick. We ordered off of the Sunday brunch menu, their Bluegrass Breakfast, Prosciutto Eggs Benedict and a side of biscuits and gravy. Everything was delicious! All meats are sourced locally. They also have a large collection of whiskeys and bourbons. We are considering coming back for dinner later tonight.
I had a craving for crawfish and thought I might satisfy it with the Orleans steamer.. Boy was I wrong the crawfish were not good at all but the shrimp and everything else were up to par. Also the service and staff were very friendly and the environment was great. Good experience overall but I recommend solving crawfish cravings somewhere else.
My daughter took me to this restaurant for mother's dayWe enjoyed the food and the customer service. We will definitely return for another wonderful meal. There was plenty of food on my plate and the prices were amazingThe hostess was friendly and made sure that we had everything we needed. We give this restaurant a five star rating. Brenda W.
The food was great! The servers were on point! They were very attentive and great interaction with my 3 year old son! The only criticism I would have is that they have removed some of the menu items but made great suggestions of other items on menu! Would definitely come back!
my steak was one of the best I have ever had but my wife got a dish of scallops and spinach that was to die for and I'm a steak and shrimp guy but I would get her dish next time I go that's how good it was and the wait time was nothing five ten minutes top
Very nice decor...very clean. Super nice staff. I loved the special cucumber roll. The clear soup was good as was the salad. Salmon sashimi was perfect. Slightly pricey, but about what you would expect from most any sushi restaurant in Birmingham.
Kobe is my favorite hibachi restaurant. Charlie is an awesome chef, the food is always delicious, and the service is great. I would definitely recommend it to friends and family. Try the Sasquatch Roll and the Rainy Day Roll!
I had Lindsey as my server she was very patient and knowledgeable of the products on the menu. She described the difference in steam pots for me and checked on our table frequently. The food and service was great.
