I ordered a custom-made lace front wig. This was when they first came out, and usually cost from $800 to $1000. So I was excited to found out that she sold them for $500, which back then was a really good price.
Monica had a very warm and friendly personality. I saw several customers at the shop who were getting their lace wigs styled, which they had purchased from her. The wigs looked absolutely great on them. I briefly spoke to a few of the customers, and they were extremely happy with the service.
When my wig came in, I was disappointed. It was not the custom-wig I had ordered, it was just close. The fit did not cover my temples. Before it came in, I had heard her mention ""finding one"" like what I was requesting. At this time, not a lot of stores had in-stock wigs, and it could take months to get a custom-made wig, because of how long they take to make and ventilate from scratch.
Then I realized that this was not really a ""custom-made"" wig, specially made to the specifications I had requested. I should have wondered why she was able to get them in so quickly. I believe she would just search the web for in-stock wigs, try to find one as close to the specifications as possible, and order it. The fit was CLOSE but not what we measured. The color, length, and curl pattern was a little off from what I had requested.
At any rate, I was just happy it had come in at all, so I wasn't complaining about small details. I knew I was getting a good price, and you get what you pay for. When she tried to apply the wig to my hairline, it was too low, and the line of demarcation was so obvious, it looked like a rug glued to my head. I immediately asked her to take it down.
She had initially told me that some clients have to have their hairline shaved back, and it was the only way to apply the wig. I later learned this is not true, and there are many ways to apply the wigs without shaving. Shaving my hair back was NOT an option, as I knew it would look ridiculous if I didn't have a wig on and take forever to grow back. Because I was unwilling to shave my head, I assume this is why it appeared to be glued halfway down my forehead.
I tried wearing the wig other ways, with bobby pins and such, but it was too loose and wouldn't stay in place. I ended up giving it to my friend, whose head fit it better.
Later, after buying more in-stock wigs from other sources, and watching a few youtubes, I had no trouble applying the wigs MYSELF in a way that looked natural on me, and I am not even a licensed hairstylist.
The only reason I give 3 stars for satisfactory, is because I saw plenty of other clients who were very happy with their wigs and the service. So my bad experience may not be the norm.
At any rate, if a stylist says you have to shave your hairline back to apply a lace wig, RUN!

I'm getting married in May and have been wearing wigs for the pass year. My best friend happened to find her website because I desperately need someone to style this $300 full lace wig I bought for my wedding and honeymoon. I ca;;ed and got a pleasant voicemail and was excited to hear such a pleasant voicemail. I called her back later and talked to Monica and she set up a consultation on Sunday. I called a few times before Sunday to confirm the appointment because it was a 40 minute drive and gas is $4.17 / gallon for premium gas (what I have to use in my car...argh). Anyway. she did not answer or return any phone calls. But I went anyway. I got the address off the website (brookhurst dr) and went to a building that appeared to be a place that does taxes and it appeared it may have a salon upstairs. So I called again to make sure I was at the right place. Still no answer from Monica. So I call the number on the upstairs window of the building. Someone answered the phone and said she was at chruch. So I told her I set up a consultation with someone and she said maybe it was someone else at the shop. So I hung up and continued to call the cell number where I reached her ONCE, but to no avail. So while I sat in the parking lot for 30 minutes, I started googling to see if there was anothe address. I did find an address that was around the corner so I went to that address. It was less than a mile away and couldn't find a location there. SO I continued to google and call her thinking she must be in a shop SOMEWHERE and I'm just lost. Well she never answered. But while googling, I found this site and saw all these negative reviews. I am so appreciative of the reviews. While I do believe some of the positive reviews are real, I find it akward that all the reviews are either 1 star or 5 stars. Back and forth reading through the reviews. But when I read reviews, if I see more thana few negative reviews, the positive reviews become skewed because I feel that there are too many people who had negative experience and I would be taking my chances. Well I can't afford to do that with a $300 wig. And I think it is horrible business to not EVER call the customer back. So that also left me believing more of these negative reviews are true than the positive. I'm actually glad sh didn't show up now because I don't have time to play with unprofessional people. I guess some people just live on a different level where certain actions are acceptable to them because they live around people who act the same way. But I try to surround myself with people who know how to act and I definitely won't waste my money on someone who obviously seems to not know howto conduct themselves in business. I started to call from another number to see if she woul ever answer againm but I realize I'm still not going to go to her so there is no need to waste any more time or gas on this lady.

Usually I don't provide feedback simply because I am a very busy person. I have been Monica's client for approximately two years now. She is truly an authentic, talented, educated, etc stylist. There are a laundry list of adjectives that describe this hair diva. I am a long time wearer of weave installations. I have NEVER experienced flawless installations until I met Monica!! I recently received a flawless installation with a front lace closure. The hair she uses is SIMPLY gorgeous. I get several compliments and provide several referrals to inquiring minds wanting to know...
I am grateful for Monica's honesty because she will give you professional advise about your hair whether you like the advice or not. Only the serious mature clients take the advice and make informed decisions. This is how much i am loyal to my stylist - I don't own a bottle of shampoo or conditioner. I don't get my hair done unless Monica does it! No exceptions. She makes accommodations for my busy schedule which is a plus for my needs.
For those of you who alleges they can't get in touch with Monica I suggest you try calling the correct contact number and leave a voice-mail message if necessary as my calls and/or messages never went unanswered.
I have been to several stylists in the Birmingham area for installations and have not meet one (and I emphasize one) that can hold a stylist instrument or installation efforts to Monica. I found it eccentric that front closures were not foreign knowledge to many other stylists but the inability to execute such an installation was overwhelmingly disappointing due to modern and cutting- edge styles. All I can say ~~Monica please don't leave the Birmingham area without educating other stylists! Thank you

Well I've been going to Monica since 09 and have had to many to count excellent services. Her salon has always been cleàn and her work beyond great. She stays so busy so if you dont have an appt its hard to get in. I am buffled by the negative feedback. It truly sounds like the same person just by the wording. When i say same person the stylist in training who worked with her. That was a nightmare. Monica works is the best I've ever had. She has done my natural hair and now my sewns. I was going to stylist in bham and atl but her work is really good. She cuts soooo well. She has always layed my tracks tight, relaxers straight and daughters hair well. She did recently move because she wanted to downsize and focus on education and me..lol no just kidding but the clients. I love her new location!

Monica Jordan is a great example of an unprofessional anything. I have never read so many negative things about one person. I hope that people will view City Search's comments before they waste their time and money on the foolishness of Monica Jordan. She is a horrible person who does not see the errors of her wicked ways. Monica thinks what she does to people is ok. She create greatness of her work and her intelligence in that BIG EMPTY HEAD of hers. It has been 3 years since I have graced this woman's so called shop with my presence and I am still shocked to see comments like this about her.
Tell your family and friends to stay away from this CLOWN! She is a mean, unhappy, unsatisfied person.

I don't usually do this kind of thing... but I feel the public must be warned of bad service. I went in for a sew-in... the sew in she did was VERY thin. Also I got a rinse in the crown of my head...or so I thought. She charged me $20 for the rinse. That's the price for a WHOLE head. And when i got home, and looked closely in the mirror I realized she did not do the rinse well. I'm walking around with weave of one color and my real hair another color. She had to have seen that, so why on earth would she charge me for it, and $20 that. Why? Because she is money hungry. That cheap unethical move will cost her way more I'm sure. Okay moving along... she does talk a lot about her friends in high places and in the political and corporate world. If you say something she doesn't like, she will take it out on your hair. The shop looks absolutely nothing like the pictures. Oh! Beware she is moving and will now be renting from someone over where McDonalds is on Roebuck Pky/Gadsden Hwy. Also, I should've paid more attention to the warning signs....4 times I have been to her shop, and all four times there was never anyone else there. I finally asked her about it, and she started talking about how crazy the people were that has worked there. She even told me three of her former renters work next door. WTF! That tells me she is the one with the attitude problem, not them! I don't know how she is gonna make it at some1 else's shop. Good luck! Also she absolutely CAN NOT cut. I don't know how int he world she was able to get a salon...all it takes is confidence I guess...even if she is a fraud with next to no skills. She cant trim, and she can not cut whatsoever. Monica Jordan if you are reading this, take a class please.

She does a great sewin and the hair is quality but she does not always have the needed resources available and will substitute. The picture online is not the actual shop. I don't know where that came from.
I communicated well in advance my expectations. I even sent pictures of what I wanted. Neither the style or color were matched. Communications were slow or nonexistent and she does not stand behind her product. She boasts of clients in the judicial system as if to intimidate.

This is regarding the negative shampoo tech who worked for our salon. First of all she is not a stylist she is unlicensed. This lady came into the salon looking for a place to rent a booth. She is an unlicensed play stylist/Shampoo Tech (check Alabama Board of Cosmetology under Theresa Cadwell-Watts) & she wanted to earn her license under mines. I always give a trail period of 30 days & let them be a shampoo tech to see if they are what I want in my salon for if I can work with them. She constantly talked about stripping to EVERYONE, then would turn around and read a bible verse and pray about spirits over my clients. I was getting calls from my clients explaining that they are very uncomfortable with her. She would wear bandanas, head scarf’s and hats. This was not the tone I was trying to set in the salon. She shared too much of her personal life with my clients and staff and it got to be very unbearable. I let her know that it wasn’t work and asked her to leave. Theresa sounds like she is bitter woman who couldn’t be a part of a strong team and has gotten very upset. I am looking for classy, professional, talented stylist. Who want to further their career in this industry!

5-21-10 - My hair (full weave) experience with Monica took place on May 21, 2010. After reading Monica reviews, I filtered through her positive feedbacks and focused on the clients who had good experiences with Monica. I can truly say she is a wonderful person and stylist. The hair she provided by the way of purchase is flawless. The sew in weave looks very natural and not to mention the sew in was painless. I am glad I found Monica and will continue to stay with her throughout my hair needs. Thank you Monica!

I WORKED AT THIS SALON AND IT WAS THE FUNNIEST TIME OF MY LIFE! THE OWNER KEPT TELLING ME THAT SHE DID NOT USE PRODUCTS OUT OF THE STORE. I SAW HER CHARGEA A LADY $85 DOLLARS FOR A COLOR SERVICE. SHE USED DARK AND LOVLEY!! SHE SAID TO ME SHE CHARGED THE WOMAN BECAUSE SHE GOT ON HER NERVES. I JUST STOOD THERE AND SAID TO MY SELF WHAT KIND OF PERSON IS THIS! SHE ALSO GOES IN THE BACK ROOM AND MIXES COLORS AND PEICES UP WEAVES. SHE WIILL CHARGE YOU HIGH END PRICES FOR HAIR SHE PEICES TOGATHER. THERE WAS A LITTLE GIRL WHO CAME FOR A RELAXER, HER HAIR WAS ALREADY BREAKING OFF. SHE WANTED ME TO APPLY THE RELAXER TO HER HAIR LINE FIRST THEN THE CROWN OF HER HEAD. I TOLD HER THAT I WANTED TO APPLY THE RELAXER TO THE CROWN THEN THE EDGES LAST. SHE INSISTED I APPLY IT TO HER EDGES FIRST. I ALSO COLORED A CLIENTS HAIR FOR HER AND TOLD HER I DID NOT NO HOW TO APPLY COLOR WITH A COMB. SHE STILL HAD ME TO APPLY THE COLOR WITH THE COMB AND THE CUSTOMERS HAIR WAS SPOTTIE. SHE LET THE CUSTOMER WALK OUT THE DOOR LIKE THAT! I HAD TO LEAVE HER SALON BECAUSE OF HER POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. IF YOU YOU ARE TEACHING OR APPRENTICING SOME ONE YOU DONT CHARGE A CLIENT FOR A FULL SERVICE! SHE DOES NOT SEND THOSE WIGS OFF! SHE REPAIR THEM HERSELF!! SHE CHARGES YOU A HAND FULL OF MONEY! THATS WRONG TO DO YOUR CUSTOMRES LIKE THIS! BEWARE!

UPDATED: 5-05-2010: JUST WANTED TO LET EVERYONE KNOW. I'M STILL IN THE SAME SEW-IN AND AM HATING THAT I HAVE TO TAKE IT OUT. I RUNNING BACK TO MONICA
I contacted Monica via e-mail and she was able to fit me in a few days which was very important because I had an event to go to. This is the 4th different stylist to give me a sew-in and I was amazed. She was professional; she was friendly; the styling/look was exceptional; everything was top notch. I decided to try the hair that she supplied and it is the best hair I've ever had. I'm glad I found her, I will continue to use her I will NOT be going anywhere else I am over the top satisfied.

I have been wearing a sew in for quite some time now,and I am a client of Monicas and I have not been party to ""these so called customer service flaws."" I can only comment on what I have witnessed and that is a person who knows her craft and tries her hardest to accomadate her clients. What I have learned about a weave is it is just that, A WEAVE!!So for a weave to look as natural as possible takes skill and definitly some ""tweaking"". What you are trusting is that your stylist is able to tweak it so that it is georgeous. I personally have been upset with Monica at times because she is hard to get in contact with...however I have never had her go against her product or her word...Her hair is the best out there...I am stubborn and demanding as I am sure most of her clients are, but I have never been dissatisfied with my product..that is what counts..so I ask people to do their research as I have..I have used other hair in the past and there is just no match..

I agree with WWJD1990 and CSmobileuser. My experience at Divas was not good. I went to this shop in March and I must say, I thought I had mad a mistake, because the pictures on her website are misleading. I went to Monica for a full head sew in...I scheduled my appointment two ways 1)via her email and 2) over the phone with her personally. Each time I specified that I wanted 10' hair. On the day of my appointment she had 14' hair. After she was done with my hair, I was not happy. I did not like the style, the braids were too tight it was not good. After about a month or so, I went back for a scalp treatment, shampoo, cut and style. Had I known that she would take conditioner and dab it onto my scalp in between a few braids, I would have done it myself! And for my cut...she took her shears, and cut in a straight line using my back as a guide...not even cutting it into the style that I had asked for which was a layered bob.
Her talk is CHEAP because Monica does not deliver on what she says.

Hi, it's me again. I just wanted to let you guys know that I had my court date on 3/10/2009. The Judge ruled in my favor, as I knew he would. The owner is now legally liable to pay me my money back plus the cost of court. Her attorney wrote saying she wanted to pay me $100.00 a month for six months. This is ridiculous coming from a woman who claims to make between $100,000-150,000 a year. I have not heard anything else from her or her attorney and have not recieved any money. This GOD ""fearing"" woman came to court and lied before GOD and now has not paid her debt. I will get my money. The GOD that I serve has assured that. Just wanted to let you all know that. Again, please do your research and get everything in writing when making an enormous purchase as this. It protects all parties involved, but I would not reccommend diva lace wigs and salond or monica jordan to anyone. Just like with anything sometimes the product provided is faulty and people have to be willing to admit that. This person should not be used. The product was horrible and the customer service the same. Be careful!!!!!! I also wanted to mention that the owner stated in court to the Judge the lace wig I purchased being worn everyday would only last 6 weeks. This wig cost $600.00 Even if someone purchased two wigs @ $1200, they would only last 3 months according to her statement. I would not have spent that type of money for something that would only last a month and a half. Her contract and care instructions state they will last up to a year. So, please do your homework when about to make a purchase of this magnitude!!

suffering from aleopecia and tired of wearing quick weaves. I went online and found Diva lace wigs. I wont go into detail concerning my situation but I was not happy with the service I received..She was awful about answering her phone or even returning phone calls.. This is bad service
If you place your cell phone number on the front of your shop door and online...you should be willing to answer sometimes....to a potienial customer this is a no-no. and Just because your voice mail says"" If I dont call you back honey I apologize"" you are telling people there is a 99% chance you wont answer.
When I give someone $285.00 of my hard earned money I deserve better than what I got....You should not have to hound someone to get service or your money back....I was not pleased with Monica at all and one thing is for certain...
I dont care what you are selling or what kind of service your provide....WORD OF MOUTH IS THE BACKBONE OF ANY BUSINESS.....
I am sorry to say that I will not refer anyone there...
After reading the other posts I found it very odd that someone who comment on another persons experiance at Diva Lace..This is a review page..be it good or bad everyone that encounters Monica has the right to tell their story...If you received quality service that is your right to say...If I didnt,I have the right to say also.....

I have been going to Monica now for almost a year because I was losing my hair and now almost all my hair has grown back YEA. It is because of her I have a head of full hair. I started with a full lace wig that last about a year. I was going every 2 weeks becuase I really didn't know how to take care of it. And about 6 months I purchase a SECOND UNIT. Now I am wearing a weaving with only about 5 tracks of her very own collection of Virgin Indian Hair. She has always been able to fit me in and always very professional. She has a long extensive clientele and doesn't take any foolishness. I am glad because I have been in salons with bad customer service. If you are looking for great customer service for a HAIR GURU and looking for someone who has Beautiful indian lace wigs or hair Please give her a call. She is the only stylist on top of THE HAIR GAME!! Any questions I can personally stand for her business ethics and service send me an email donnathecpa@gmail. Also remember when clients can have there way and can't get what they want the will trash someones credibility. Take a look at her website and each review and make your decision. You will get what you are looking for!!

I find it very suspicious that instead of just rating Diva Lace Wigs and Salon, that one user would take so much time to insult me. I also find it suspicious my review has been posted since Nov 2008 and only after the owner found out it was posted at the end of January 2009 in which she emailed and threatened me, now she has two rave reviews posted on the same day. Hilarious!! You all should find this very amusing. It's good to know the owner can still take time to talk about me to her other clients but wouldn't address the problem with me. Not every one is going to have the same experience. I'm sure there are some others out there who have been disappointed with Diva Lace Wigs and Salon. They probably didn't know what avenue to take, but I serve a GOD that guides me in the right direction. I tried everything to solve this out of court, but the owner was too busy to deal with it. My day in court is fast approaching and I am so relieved this will be over soon. For the record, I look way better than Beyonce. Glad your hair made you looked mixed. You obviously needed some improvements since people take notice now! LOL The attacks posted on me are HILARIOUS. This woman (I hope) doesn't even know me, nor was she there when I made the 4hour drive only to be disappointed with the treatment I've recieved from this God fearing person. Any fair minded individual will see that post for what it is, MESS. You should speak only on what she did for you, but of course the client doesn't fall far from tree. Know what I mean? The good thing about the post is I have another piece of evidence for the Judge. Thanks Diva Lace Wigs and Salon!! Users again be weary and understand there are lace wig sellers out there that will not stand by their work and sell you garbage. For those of you that wear these, you know they are an investment. I read horror stories on-line from women who have paid thousands and ended up with trash. They get your money and don't care what you get. Still Blessed.
I just recently moved to the Birmingham area from Florida. I have special hair care needs, and needed someone who is knowlable in the hair care industry. I did my research before relocating and found Diva Lace Wigs and Hair Salon. When I contacted Ms. Jordan to schedule a consultation, she was very professional and accommodating. When I walked into the salon, I was greeted with a warm and genuine smile. After talkig with Ms. Jordan and weighing all of my options I decided to place an order for a unit. It was the best decision that I have ever made!!! For those of us who have special hair care needs it is very spiritual to find someone who can empathize with our feelings. I told Ms. Jordan of my feelings of not being happy with my looks in the past because of my issues. She reassured me that once I saw the unit and once it was applied my life would change. Being the true skeptic that I am because I have tried everything, I reserved my judgement. Well once the unit arrived and it was applied, all I could do what cry because it has been along time since I felt this good and confident with my looks! It is so natural looking and carefree. I workout and sweat profusely, it has held up very well!!! The true test was when my husband saw me for the first time after the unit was applied, he grabbed me and hugged me for the longest time. He told me that although I have always been beautiful, I was exceptionally beautiful and I had a speacial glow about me that he had not seen in along time! My mom and sister saw me shortly thereafter and started to cry because they know how long I have been searching for someone who could address my needs. Monica Jordan is a person who cares about your needs and she is very professional and takes care of her clients. Monica please keep up the good work and don't stop doing what you do, which is helping to make people feel good about their look and having the confidence that has eluded them for a long time!
I've read the statement that one lady from Mississippi wrote and I believe she has the wrong Monica Jordon. Monica did my unit in October of 08 and since then i have had no problem out of it. To the point I go the the store and have people asked me ""what am mixed with?"" LOL she is great she fits me in at times I know she could be home with her beautiful kids. My unit is great and as far as this lady talking about it's hard for her to get in for an appointment has to be confused. I looked all around Birmingham and found the most perfect person for me. She is treating ""my"" hair and my unit great. It stays in place for up to four weeks and can go longer. I only go back that soon because I know it's time for a wash a clip. I'm sorry miss you must have seen some pictures of beyonce and thought that's what you were suppose to look like. I'm sorry but she is a stylist and not a magician!!! Beyonce pays thousands for her hair and i'm sorry if you are not on beyonce's pay grade or look level, don't go around expecting to leave a salon looking that way. I don't know if may you just didn't know what you were doing with your unit but, I really think that your comments about Monica were uncalled for and inaccurate. And in all honesty you should call her and say you are sorry!! By the way baby oil does not take the place of olive oil! It will make you glue lose. So, before you go around spreading rumor and expecting to look like Tyra or Beyonce make sure you ask questions before you leave the shop. You know things like ""HOW DO I CARE FOR MY UNIT?"". I'm sure you may ask those questions when you buy a car or anything of value but, from reading your comments you may not take the time to do that. So, just a bit of advice and time you invest in something ASK A FRIGGIN QUESTION OR TWO! SO TURN THE FINGER AROUND AND POINT AT THE PERSON WHO REALLY SCREWED UP THEIR HAIR/UNIT. IN CASE YOU DON'T KNOW WHO THAT IT, IT'S YOU NOT MONICA! DUHHHHH!!
DIVA FOR LIFE!!!
