I have been going to Cheri for about a year now and I love her. This is really why she is so great...the other day I went to her and told her I wanted more blonde in my hair (I'm naturally a light brown). When I got home I realized I really didn't like myself that blonde and wanted more of my natural color showing. So I called her back, told her that it was too blonde for me, and asked if she had any time to fix it for me. She told me to come back and she would help me out immediately. She put in a few lowlights closer to my natural color and had me out of there in less than an hour. And this is the best my hair has ever looked! Cheri is great at doing exactly what you tell her you want and amazing with color! I can't go to anyone else!

My hair was dry from being over processed, and burned on the ends from another salon. Cheri has helped me get it back on the way to being healthy and shiny. She is a wonderful, kind person who listens to what you want . I will NEVER use anyone else again. Thank you Cheri for all of your help! Thanks Brenda Proctor

I have been coming to Cheri for over a year....I have been to 3 different salons after we moved to Birmingham until I found Cheri. My friend recommended her and I have never gotten so many compliments on my hair since coming to Cheri. She takes her time with you and is very honest when you ask her questions about your hair. I trust her with my color/cut and hope she will be around for many years to come!

I had an appointment with Dana to get some red added to my already black hair. When she finished it was the still black. I told her that I could not see any color in it at all. She told me it was subtle. I called and spoke with the owner Cheri who said I should come back and have it redone. So I went the following Saturday. I spoke with Dana about wanting reddish-brown hair. When she finished I again said I did not see any red. She said that I needed to stand in the sun to see the red.

What a crock! I paid $100 for nothing. My hair looks exactly like it did before I went to her. I would not recommend Dana to anyone wanting color in their hair.

Cheri has been doing my hair for almost 10 years and I absolutely love her work! I went to many different places before finally finding someone who could make my highlights and lowlights blend so well and look so natural. I am one of the pickiest people when it comes to my hair and she always takes the time to be very thorough and find out exactly what I want. Whenever I want to change my look, I never worry that I will leave with anything other than exactly what I asked for! When I moved away for college, I reluctantly tried another salon in the new town and was reminded why I would never go to anyone but Cheri! For the remainder of my college years I made the drive back to Birmingham to see Cheri. I am currently living in Florida for a year and HAD to visit another salon here because of the long drive. They did an OK job, but I HAD to make special arrangements for an appointment with Cheri while I was home for Christmas to get my hair back the way I like it. She was very accommodating and went out of her way to make sure that I got an appointment during the short time I was home. Cheri is THE BEST in Birmingham in all regards - talent, quality, efficiency, customer service, and personality.

I finally have a hairstylist a...

I finally have a hairstylist and salon in Birmingham! I tried many other salons through recommendations and was not happy with any of them. In between these salon visits I drove back to Mississippi to see a friend who could fix the hair problems. My appointment with Cheri was my last attempt at finding someone locally. She is great. You can't beat the haircuts and she is a master colorist. I've been more than happy to to send her referrals. I also recommended Dana to a friend for a perm and she was so happy with the results.

I have been a client of Cheri's for several years now. She always makes me feel comfortable and listens to my hair concerns before dispensing her valuable advice. We have tried a few things that didn't work out quite the way I had hoped but she always works with me to correct it to my satisfaction. Her primary concern is to ensure that her client is happy. I would highly recommend this salon to anyone.

Have you ever had a bad hair cut or suffered with stylists who simply wouldn't listen to what you had to say? If so, then you MUST try Kenneth Clayton. I used to loathe going to a hair salon; the cut would be terrible, the color would leave my hair dry with that "over processed" look, etc., but after visiting Cheri at Kenneth Clayton I have no more worries - because every time it looks great! Cheri is a wonderful stylist and colorist and I always look forward to my next visit.

I am so happy with KCS!! Cheri...

I am so happy with KCS!! Cheri is such a professional, and she does a great job. I get compliments about my hair color all the time! She has created an environment that is friendly and relaxing - warm towels, a Keurig coffee maker, bottled water...and the salon is always super clean. I have high expectations, and I have never been disappointed with KCS or with Cheri. I love this place!!

I hav been a client of Cheri's for about 9 years and have ALWAYS had great cuts and color. She really knows what she is doing and I completely trust her service. She is great at what she does and I really consider her a friend. I enjoy going for a visit and bing pampered!!

I've followed Cheri for almost...

I've followed Cheri for almost 10 years now and she has always made sure that I was HAPPY prior to my leaving. I've even gotten out of the chair pleased and then asked if she could take a little more off...no problem, she always takes care of me...and perhaps folks should just make an appointment and be on time rather than buying a special "groupon"..regardless, she will fix anything you aren't pleased with, but being on time starts with the customer...sy

Excellent Salon!!

Let me start by saying that I am very picky when it comes to my hair. I moved to Birmingham almost 6 years ago. I went from salon to salon trying to find a good salon. I hate going to new salons. You never know what you will look like when you leave. I like for my hair to look the same. I get highlights and I want my hair to look natural. I don't want people to be able to tell when I get my hair colored. In the past I have used stylists that would have my hair looking different everytime I visited....either too light or too dark. When I see Cheri, she knows what to do and I can relax knowing my hair will turn out great!! I have people on a regular basis ask me "Who does your hair?"

I've had my hair cut and colored at Kenneth Clayton Salon for years. The personal service is exceptional. I've been to other salons where I didn't feel comfortable with the atmosphere or the stylists. This is not that place - everyone there makes you feel at home. Based on the referrals of friends, I first visited Kenneth Clayton Salon when I decided to begin coloring my hair. For anyone who has not done this before, it's a BIG decision. I was not disappointed which is why I continue to visit Cheri at Kenneth Clayton.

I will start my review by expl...

I will start my review by explaining what kind of hair I have to work with. When I say curly, some may think of beachy-waves or loose ringlets. This is not the case. Think Keri Russell in Felicity or Nicole Kidman in 1991. It is extremely hard to find a stylist that understands the vast difference between someone with curly hair versus straight. Prior to Cheri, I would spend hours a week blowing and flat ironing my hair out straight just so that I could achieve a decent color and cut. For 10 years I have had the pleasure of being able to wear my hair naturally curly because of the beautiful work she has done on my hair. There is rarely a day that passes that a perfect stranger doesn't comment on how pretty my hair is, or how lucky I am to have natural curls. As flattering as this is, I know from past experience that without the exceptional quality of work that Cheri has done, I would probably resemble a poodle. I have seen Cheri's work on people with all types of hair and the outcome is always equally as impressive. I have personally recommended Kenneth Clayton Salon for years, and I will undoubtedly continue to.

Horrible 1 star not low enough

Be sure to read the other bad review. We purchased a groupon for haircut, full foils, style, and eyebrow sculpting. This place was about 45 miles from our house but was in an area we frequent for shopping. We called 2 weeks in advance and set appointments for my wife and daughter. During the call, the owner did everything she could to encourage is to return the groupon. We did not want to because it was a good deal and only a few miles from another visit we had in the area. We went that direction with our GPS, google maps, and mapquest in hand. None of these accurately represents the location. All are about 1 mile off. We called the salon several times up to 1/2 hour before we got there. In 9 phone calls they answered 2. With some help, we arrived 9 minites after our scheduled appointment. The owner began to rudely inform us that due to being late they had no time to see us. We told them that if they would answer the phone we would be there. We offered to drop the eyebrow since that should be enough time to offset the tardy. She refused because we weren't "draped" yet. Not sure why that takes so long. Bottom line, she did not want to honor the groupon. When Inlooked in the back, she had another client in the chair with a wet head so she could not serve us anyway. She was behind and didn't want to provide the value she promised.



So, if you want to drive to the middle of now where to be treated rudely and lied to by an ignorant, insolent, idiot, then Kenneth Clayton is your place. Otherwise, go down the street to Ulta. Better price and BETTER PEOPLE!

I'm very sorry your experience with us wasn't what you or we expected. We do everything within our power to make sure a client is very well taken care of. We respect our clients time and will make sure we run on time. When I spoke to your wife on the phone I explained that Google maps had us in the wrong location and strongly suggested she go to our website and read our "Appointment Etiquette" page. It explains where we are in detail. I always make it very clear that 280 traffic is terrible no matter what day it is. I understood you were coming from Tuscaloosa county that's why I asked your wife if she wanted to keep the deals. She did comment on how we were pretty far down 280 and I agreed with her. We never want to turn clients away but, in this situation I had no choice. The client admitted that they didn't go to our site for directions and that's why they were 30 minutes late. We were not able to answer the phone when you called because there are only 2 of us and we were working on our clients. We check messages constantly and return calls asap. I understand your frustration. We would've been very happy to reschedule your appointment but, you were almost yelling at us. I'm very sorry this happened we wish we could have taken of your wife and daughter. We want to honor our commitment to Groupon and to the client. We appreciate your review and apologize for the inconvenience this has caused you.
