Just working on getting this One Star rating up after a Hit Piece by my closest Homewood competitor at the Shoe Hospital.
Called this store after being told that they had the size of a particular shoe I was needing to be told by a very rude person no they didn't have it and that they guess the computer was wrong then just hung up on me .
I can't say enough good things about Homewood Shoe Hospital and Victor Costa. I have used them for multiple shoe repairs and recently for custom orthotics. The orthotics are well made, fit my feet and are so comfortable! There have been many times when Victor has gone out of his way to provide a service. The first time I visited the business, I went in on a whim seeking advice about how to condition a leather coat. Victor gave me advice and then gave me leather conditioner to try for free. That was the start of excellent, caring service!
I just got a great deal on shoes! I went in to buy me some shoes, but ended up getting me and my daughter a pair. They had a buy one get 50% off the next pair. I'll be back!
Not a nice person, has no interest in helping his customers, only cared about how much money something is worth to him. He stole the advertising of a competitor. Go anywhere except to this guy
I had a great experience and found some wonderful shoes at tremendous discounts. I will be returning.
All the shoes in the world will not make me withstand racism and discrimination. I used to purchase quite a bit of shoes at this establishment until an associate decided to humiliate me in front of other customers. It began when I was speaking Spanish while on the phone with my mother. I was not, by any means, yelling. Merely, engaging in a casual, loving chat with Mom:) when the associate approached me and asked me to leave since my "perfume" was allegedly aggravating another associate's asthma. Foremost, I was not wearing perfume. Secondly, I was not the only customer in the store (though I was the only one speaking in Spanish!). And lastly, I presume that anyone with such a grave case of asthma should stay clear of retail stores which are often inundated with asthma-inducing stimuli. I later returned to ask for the owner's name and such information was blatantly denied as the same associate indicated that I should, instead, send a Facebook message. Agreed. Not only will I heed her advice and share my experience on Facebook but I will certainly utilize all media and other online social networks to express this experience in the hopes that the store owner begins to play a more active role in providing cultural training to his/her staff since it seems that such was not instilled during domestication. Please beware of the ignorant soles! Truthfully, I prefer to pay full price at a reputable department store than to sell my dignity for 20% off!
Nicest Business Owner Ever! I had an Ameribag that I LOVE and have carried for 10 years. Ameribag no longer makes the suede purses, and could not part with it. The handle/strap had vinyl that was ripping my sweaters and snagging everything! I took here and they replaced the vinyl under the strap with leather and it is FABULOUS! Thank you so much! I love it!!!! BEAUTIFUL WORK!
This is easily the best orthotic and shoe repair business I've ever encountered. I am a former diplomat and had foot trouble for years. I've tried more highly recommended podiatrists and orthopedist and shoe makers than I can recall. None came close to the craftsmanship and care of Homewood Shoe Hospital. Victor Costa is a master. I've lived in Italy and England and Spain, places known for shoe makers. By any standard Mr Costa is the best, especially in regard to making orthotics. The orthotics Mr Costa makes are original, and amazingly effective. The orthotics are lighter, and better than anything else I've tried at three times the price. As for service, Mr Costa will work until they are right, fitting, and refitting until they are just right. After a hip operation, I felt like I'd never walk again without pain. I tried orthotic makers in New York. Chicago and Birmingham. Until I found Homewood Shoe Hospital, I was miserable. Mr Costa is gem of a human and simply terrific. Those reviews than complain because he is simply deluged with shoe repairs miss the point. He has a massive amount of work because he's the best there is. No doubt.
There's one lady (older African American lady) that works there I went in today to purchase maybe $60 in shoes I told her my coupon on my phone I had used one before at the 280 store she proceeded to tell me there was no store on 280 that I was mistaken in a VERY hateful tone I advised her yes because I bought several pair of shoes last Sunday at that location she rolled her eyes and said no you didn't because there's not one there. I refused to purchase the shoes I wanted and stated I would go to the nonexisting store to buy the ones I wanted. I went home looked at my receipt from the nonexsiting store on Old 280 Hwy called Trussville to tell her I did not appreciate her calling me a liar! If you don't like you job change it.... Iam a nurse and work with the public each day and would never treat anyone the way she treated me! I will NEVER shop there again!!!
