This is one of my absolute favorite places to go in the Birmingham area. In my experience, this location (southside, near 5pts) is by far the best one. The staff is friendly, clean, and helpful. LOVE their gyros, sides, and that *amazing* mint tea. The burgers are among the best, and all of the meals I have tried were good and filling sizes (no meager portions that will leave you wanting more. They also stay open super late (I think they may be open 24 hours?).The baklava is a bit less crispy than I prefer, but everything else that I have had on their menu has always been fantastic.I would give it a 4 and 1/2 if that were an option (only missing out on the 5 because of the mediocre baklava and the 'only okay' condition of the bathrooms). But as far as the food itself, I have only had good experiences (and I have gone here regularly for at least 8+ years). This place was a staple for nearly every b'ham trip I made long before I moved to the area. Everyone I have brought here has left with a new favorite place to eat. The prices are very reasonable, especially for the quality. You can see the food prep area (which I really like being privy to). There is a covered patio dining area for the smokers, as well as inside dining. It's my absolute "go-to" for the post-bar night/late night out, etc. I honestly made a profile on this site *just* to post a review for this place, and for me to do that is really saying something.
I usually don't feel compelled to right a review, but this restaurant is well worth it. When I walked in the cantina a sweet, attractive hostess walked us to our table as we were surrounded by the exquisite atmosphere and detail of the restaurant. After gawking at everything around us our food arrives in a traditional stone plate where the food was tastefully placed. I ordered steak and enchilidas that blew my taste buds away!! That just so happened to fit nicely with the fantastic margarita. It was the best restaurant that my date could have picked to go to. The atmosphere was so exciting, fun and sexy! The manager, Matt Norman even stopped by our table and explained the fascinating details about the hand made chairs, tables, and stars. This was the first Mexican restaurant that I've been to that the servers could actually speak English well. Absolutely LOVED it!!
Very dissapointed. I counted 8 tables that needed to be cleaned. There was no sweet tea. The tray the food came on was dirty (it had a piece of lettece on it and was covered with crumbs all over it}. The trays on the counter in the kitchen were dirty but they were loading them with food anyway. We were there at 3:30 so it wasn't the lunch rush hour so there was no excuse for the way it looked inside. The service was good but if it looks like that next time I willl not eat there again.
So much fun! A great venue for a concert. My husband and I saw Fitz and the Tantrums and loved the balcony area more than the floor. There are a few seats in the balcony and wall seating. The sound was awesome. Get there early enough to order dinner and drinks.
GREAT RESTAURANT! Waiter was one of the best waiters I have ever had - very conversational but not overwhelming - very aware of what we needed. Food was AMAZING! :) I have also gotten takeout from them - just as good! All the staff is helpful & polite!
I only visit when I'm in town on business I make a point to visit Linette, she remembers my name even what I drink and my favorite menu item. She's an awesome bartender. Friendly polite and she makes me feel right at home. See ya'll soon.
The food is pretty good, the wait time is ridiculous, but for a decent burger, I can wait 15 min. Its rare to get chicken and waffles and fish tacos at the same time. Everything is fresh and not like a processed mess like McDonalds.
Bam closes at 9 pm on Saturday. There is a Final Four game going on and they are closing. C'mon, either you are a sports bar or you aren't. Don't go into business half way guys!
Hey I went there just to purchase my Mom dinner and that lady is hard to please but she loved the food!! Magic Grill you are ok with me! You Rock!!!
The staff was very friendly and the food was good. The atmosphere is great for teaching about the 50's. My kids loved the cars their food came in.
