They have good food, good service, and a good atmosphere. I really enjoy going there.
The service might be better if you are not black. We were shot at—but not shut down by a few odd, rude, and inappropriate remarks made by the (White) server and (White) patrons sitting near us. The restaurant was bustling with approximately 99% white consumers. Typically, this has never been a challenge to us as a minority couple. Despite reservations, we had to wait an additional 35 minutes to be seated with no apology nor smiles. The hostess who was not friendly commanded us to wait in the entrance area which had no television, music, appetizers, drinks, etc. They merely provided a few of us with fold out style chairs for our lengthy wait. When we finally did get our table, it was in an add-on type of room; the construction and decor was not anything close to the elegance of the main dining area plus they seated us next to a huge group of teenagers. The waitress was very slow (I suspect it was a passive-aggressive behavior due to her dislike for blacks). The main dishes were excellent but the bread (which we had request several times before she brought it) and appetizers were below average compared to Cortese's local competitors. I will refrain from elaborating on the incredibly ignorant and rude statements made by the woman serving us and the group of individuals seated next to us because it's not worth my time and energy to repeat such arrogance and abuse. My fiance and I have frequented Upscale, authentic Italian restaurants throughout the Triple Cities, NYC, and Upstate, this was the absolute worst social experience to date! Shame on you Cortese and also shame on the arrogant patrons who reinforced hostility for minorities.

This was the best pizza I have ever had and my favorite of all the places we ate in NYC. It's a typical New York pizzeria that sells pizza by the slice or the pie - that's it!!! They really mean business with their pizza. My favorite was the buffalo chicken pizza. It literally blew my mind. Pizza and buffalo...
This was the best pizza I've ever had! Inexpensive, quick and multiple tables to eat ate. This is a must try.
Visited for lunch as part of a group of 5. The food and drink was served quickly, along with the pitchers of beer. The pizzas were delicious, full of flavor, and cooked perfectly. The restaurant was full of what felt like students, and they know great food when they see it!
You can't tell me the pizza at this place isn't good..Always the perfect pizza slice here. Hot, cheesy, and tasty. And they have an excellent crust which is crucial to any good pizza.
